Zuko looked up at his father, face wet with tears. Ozai reached out and held his hand over Zuko’s face. The touch at first felt inviting, pleasantly warm and gentle. But soon that feeling turned into a prickling sensation, kind of like the pins and needles he gets when he stays in one position too long. The feeling intensified, spreading from over his eye outwards to his ear. It felt like he was being stabbed with a fork over and over again. As the flame being held to his face got hotter, Zuko screamed in pain. He could feel the skin go from warm and flushed, to blistering pain. He could feel the skin surrounding the outer edge of his father’s hand begin to melt, and he choked from the smell of it.

Hakoda's crew is unconventional, he's well aware of this. He was prepared for the twins, the bickering married couple, the youngest crewmates that will make trouble matter no what. He was not prepared for the Fire Nation Prince.
He certainly was not prepared to have to deal with parenting said prince upon some interesting discoveries.
He just wishes his crew would stop becoming Fire Nation sympathizers. (You know who you are. Please stop encouraging the kid.)

Summary
After being marooned as a thirteen year old in the southern pole , Zuko spends his following teenage years in the southern water tribe where he deveops emotions for the Chief's daughter, Katara. However, he delays to acknowledge his feelings. After returning to the Fire Nation, Zuko learns that home isn't necessary by origin and he finds his way back to the southern water tribe where a lot has changed since he left.
In the midst of a bloody crisis between the chieftain clans of the southern water tribes who have being manipulated by the Northern water tribe , Zuko must prove that he is ready to become a legitimate part of Hakoda's clan while trying to regain his friendship with Katara , who might have a love for him that is even greater than he thinks.
