Summary
Mainly taking place in 95 AG.
Ozai (and Ursa) failed to kill Azulon, so Azulon punished Ozai. Ozai's punishment changes nearly everything at the Fire Palace.
This is the beginning of a majorly divergent AU of ATLA (Avatar: The Last Airbender) that reaches post-Hundred Year War and eventually into LoK (Legend of Korra). There are pairings that take place later, but not at the beginning because they're too young for that sort of nonsense.

Summary

Summary
Dragon!Zuko AU where Zuko is the only dragon and this causes so much chaos. Inspired by @muffinlance and all the dragon crazy.
Part 1: A Dragon Child's Instinct - Mostly Azula POV of the strange things Zuko did as a child and how that affected their relationship.
Part 2: A Dragon's Cry to Agni - The Agni Kai
Part 3: A Dragon's Instinct - The main story which should cover most of the banishment period before Aang returns.
Part 4: A Dragon's Sky - Zuko and his attempts to wrangle an Avatar into a force capable of helping defeat Ozai and the mess that happens because of that. The second main story of the series.
Part 5: A Dragon's Ending - The Epilogue
I have no idea how long this series will go or how long it will take to finish. But it will take a long time. I'm a slow writer after I use up the initial creativity burst but please stick with me through it all.

He and Mai barged into Sokka's room, flames and knives in hand, needing to be ready in case they truly were in trouble. "What's wrong? Where's the danger?" He scanned the room for a threat, but as he noticed nothing unusual he let it drop.

He’s gone.
“He’s weak,” Azula whispered, testing the sound. Her throat was tight. “He always was.”
Drip. Drip.
The shadow deepened, taking form. It didn’t look like Zuko as he was now—scarred, sullen, and righteous. It looked like the boy she used to torment: younger, angrier, constantly nursing a bruise, the topknot slightly askew.
He was standing right where the door should have been. He wasn't crying, but his eyes were wide and accusatory.
The atmosphere clamped down, pulling the metallic scent of dawn inward.
“You left,” Azula stated, her voice sharp, trying to pierce the illusion. “You chose them. You chose failure.”
The hallucination of Zuko didn’t move, but a whisper, dry and wounded, filled the space above the water drip. “I chose freedom. You chose chains.”
“I chose the throne!” she snapped, pushing herself off the cot. Her muscles screamed in protest, but she ignored them, sneering. “I chose victory. You will be hunted, Zuzu! You will be forgotten!”
“I’m not the one who’s alone, Azula.”
