Bill saw the faded ghosts of Derry's past, heard the wispy trails of other peoples thoughts, knew their secrets as surely as if they where his own. Bill had known about what Henry Bowers and Patrick Hockstetter got up to in the junkyard, knew how his father blamed himself for Bill's stutter and tried not to blame Bill for Georgie's death. He'd been able to sense It below Derry, a thrumming energy like the beat of drums making his body quake, and though much less tangible than with humans he'd still been able to pick up the loose threads of what It was thinking.
That's how Bill knew It would come back.

College freshman Eddie Kaspbrak tries to enjoy being free to live his life the way he chooses now that he's out of his mother's house, but still finds himself falling back into patterns of insecurity and self-doubt. It makes dating nearly impossible when he barely likes spending time with himself, so he is positively smitten when he matches with a cute, artsy junior named Richie who seems to like him quite a bit. But Richie also likes to party, and drink, and do a lot of things that Eddie has never really done before. So he does them for Richie, and he knows he's taking it too far, but can he really be blamed for it? He's got an almost-boyfriend for the first time ever. And yes, maybe he shouldn't have drank so much at this party, or taken drinks from strangers, or tried to keep up with Richie doing lines in the bathroom, but he's probably in /love./ So getting as drunk and as high and as uninhibited as he does is okay, if he's just doing it this once. Because he can take care of himself.

Richie’s career took off not long after he graduated, which Eddie was glad for, the idea of Richie performing in these pretty sketchy bars late at night did not fill him with hope, luckily just over a year in he’d been seen performing at a bar where he was a regular when he’d been seen by someone who had connections in the world of comedy and before long Richie had auditions for Saturday Night Live and there were meetings about him getting his own comedy special on Netflix. Eddie couldn’t be happier for him but this new life came with new things.
