Sam is left behind, facing his own feelings, while accepting that he might need help with his persisting struggles."Sam had always been a very physical person, unlike him. It used to annoy him when they were kids. But now, it brought up and entirely different set of feelings. Ones that he convinced himself were long gone. But all it took was for Sam to look at him in just the right way, or touch him, and they all came flooding back. Sebastian would never initiate any contact himself, but he allowed himself small moments like these, where Sam would rest his head on him or cuddle up to him. It was the closest he could get to actually having him."

In the middle of goodbyes and next hangout plans, a loud snap interrupts the silence of the surrounding forest, a tree branch cracking in half, and Sam nearly leaps out of his skin.
Eyes wide in alarm point at the nearest patch of visible trees. “What was that?”
Unaffected by the noise, Sebastian sighs, “Probably that Beau girl. She's always in the mines, I think she uses the trail back there to get to her cabin or something. I've seen her before.”
Sam frowns, worry pulsing in his chest. Why? He tries not to think about it. His knowledge about the town's new farmer is limited, he helped move her in a couple weeks ago alongside Seb and Abby, and that's all. He hasn't seen much of her since, so knowing she frequently visited the mines– a place filled with monsters– is news to him.
“Is she alright?”

“Did you know,” Sam murmured, fighting off another bout of drunken giggles. “Did you know you have fire opals for eyes?”
Sebastian’s lips had fallen into a withering glower that only deepened at his words. “My eyes aren’t some gemstone,” he scoffed, feeling his face heat rapidly. “If anything, yours are frozen tears.” Sebastian weighed the next sentence in his mind before saying it aloud. What the hell, he decided, Sam probably wouldn’t even remember this conversation tomorrow.
“They’re the exact same pale, icy blue as your eyes.”
Sam's eyes lit up with recognition. “The one on your nightstand?” Oh. Sebastian wasn’t sure what to even say to that. Deny it? Admit that he loved sleeping beside the stone that reminded him so vividly of his best friend?

And then he meets the crush's sister.
Twin sisters attempt to adapt to farm life after mutually deciding that the city wasn't for them. They foresee the liberties of inheritance their grandfather left them, and find themselves pleasantly surprised at the wonders of Stardew Valley that, ultimately, lead them down a path of healing and home.
If only small-town gossip would stop trying to hook them up with two idiots.

Sebastian’s living in a barren apartment out in the city, attending college and getting himself more burnt out and homesick than anything resembling a good reason to have ever left for college. Sam moved out in hopes that he’d find some inspiration in independence, but has only earned himself shitty friends and an inability to hold down a single job. A suffering college student and a self-described fuck up roam a world not designed for them, one which refuses to offer space for their existence no matter how hard they try. Then that very concrete prairie provides them both with a person who mirrors everything they’ve spent years burying. Maybe this city holds something for them after all.
