This realm did not welcome Taph, that much felt certain the moment he arrived. It was a feeling that chewed at his guts, that settled in his stomach and only left if it was forgotten. An awful, stirring anxiety that Taph wished would leave him. The cabin didn't welcome him either, and for the first few hours, it felt the same as his home when he'd left it. A cage, someplace he was trapped and couldn't get out.

For once again in his life Taph felt terrifyingly helpless, and for the first time in a long time, completely without a voice.
They struck against the door again, Taph pressed his hands into his ears, worn out feathers curling around his eyes to shield the terror. Dusekkar would send a message, what could he be so busy with?

Summary
The roots of daffodil seems to be coming undone. The water attempting to bring it further into it's oppressive abyss. But the ground tries to keep it's hold. Neither wishes to part with the other, but the flower thinks it's for the best. The ground disagrees.
Make sure to read "The Daffodil" before this, as it references the story and is basically an introspective to Taph's feelings and thoughts. It's not required though.

He wouldn't always willingly admit it, but he has lost count of how many times he'd go up to a survivor to confirm the tracked days. 27 of those had been marked with a blue color, with a red marker hovering above the next square, tightly grasped in his hand before he moved to fill in the box.
