They were all coping over Ranboos' death in their own ways. Techno was pretty sure that Phil had dealt with it as he had Wilbur, ignoring it until he physically couldn't any longer. Niki was constantly baking, trying to forget it happened. The only reason he knew that was sometimes he'd find food in his house that he knew wasn't there before. No matter how many times he locked the door, it always showed back up.
Techno… had just fallen into some state of depression. It was a little like how he reacted when Wilbur died, but ten times worse because while Wilbur was a friend of his, Ranboo had been his mentee. The kid he was supposed to teach about the ways of anarchy and how to war with someone without violence and use only your words.

Wilbur starts at the sound of his voice- it’s a bit deeper than he expected. “Well, yeah,” he says as he recovers. “They say the fae are violent and evil, but…you’re just a kid. I mean, you can’t be much older than me. You don’t seem violent and evil.”

Summary
It had been exactly 3 months since Techno had arrived at the Watson household, and he’d say he was doing pretty well.
No incidents as of yet, other than the school garden prospering, and he’d been going to school for just over 2 months. He had yet to get anyone sent to the hospital with rose thorns lodged in their palm, so that was a big plus. And, as far as he could tell, none of his fa- none of the people he was staying with suspected anything yet.
Techno knew he had to get out soon though. His palms ached with a need to grow something, his head pounded day in and out, plagued with excruciating pain which so far he’d blamed on an ongoing migraine. He knew the lie could only hold up so long, but there was never a good opportunity.
It was an important day today, the third visit from his caseworker in his time staying here. It was as anxiety-inducing as ever. Sure, Phil hadn’t thrown him back into the system either of the last visits, but he never knew what could be just around the corner. This concern was only enhanced by his already unstable powers, and now he'd forgotten his headphones.
But he could keep everything under control, right?

The tension in the room was palpable, Techno glaring daggers at their father. Staring intently at his meal, Wilbur flicked occasional looks upwards. Tommy seemed… Not surprised, but almost heartbroken. His voice when he next spoke was so small it almost made Wilbur flinch.

It was the water. Phil can still swear on it. It had to have been the water. He knows it as he races down the apartment complex’s stairs, a backpack on his shoulders and a crossbody bag clutched in his hands. The sirens are blaring in his ears, they are a pair of fingers digging into his temples; rolling thunders never ceasing. Outside, the orange blaze of fire makes him want to lock himself inside. He can't, he knows he can't. If he does, he dies. He needs to get away.
He has two toddlers, and they are clinging to his sleeves as they run, adjusting to the sudden onslaught of noise. It’s all he can hear. Crying, screaming, the thump of his boots against the ground, gunshots, fire crackling. One of them is asking questions, the other is gently shushing him and telling him Dad needs to focus. Phil is grateful for that, at least.

Summary
A hoard of angry men, like a stampede of animals, burst from the forest. All holding guns and knives and shovels, each with a red face full of fury. All chasing that skinny, cackling boy. All of them that were running towards Techno, too.
He didn’t think that they would stop to listen as he explained, and so he found himself running alongside that brown haired boy.
“What did you do??” He shouted over the angry screams and yells.
The boy turned to look at him and Techno was suddenly struck by how bright his eyes were. Not literally, they were a deep brown. But something in them just shined. Techno never noticed how dull everyone else's eyes had become.
“I stole this,” the boy laughed, and pulled a tiny piglet from his jacket. The poor thing stared around with wide eyes as it was jostled about.
“You stole a pig?!” Techno gasped, diving behind a car to avoid gunshots.

The silence was thick. Tommy laid his head in the crook of his brothers neck. He stared at the rising sun.
“Tommy- what are you talking about?” Wilbur sounded weird.
“Ma’s sick Wil. She’s really sick.” It was a whisper and a verdict in one. Tommy was tired of pretending Kristen was fine.
“Let me pretend for a little longer.” Wilbur whispered pulling Tommy closer.
“Let me have my last sunrise.”
———————————————Tommy’s life is perfect. He loves his small town on the coast. He loves the ocean. He loves his brothers.
He doesn’t love the fact his mom is dying. He especially hated the fact that everyone chooses to ignore it, pretend it’s fine.
Tommy fears if he does the same, she’ll be gone before he can remember her.

"Something is seriously wrong there." He whispered, staring at the door where they'd been standing moments before. They didn't look anything like the bright, happy twins that he'd seen on TV.
"Maybe they're just nervous." Puffy replied, knowing Phil was right, but hoping deep down that they weren't as broken as they seemed. It made her sick to think about. "Nerves are normal before tournaments, right?" Puffy's eyes shot over to the teens sitting across from her. They all had the exact same tournament, and none were as petrified as Wilbur and Techno.
"Those black-eyes don't come from ballet, Puff." Phil insisted. Puffy bit her lip. She knew he was right.
