Summary
For a DAKM prompt: Dorian has learned a lot from his travels and has many natural talents, some that people people expect from a Tevinter mage and some that they never expected. It is not hard to see, if one has eyes, why the Altus is so confident...he has every reason to be. Physical specimen? Naturally. Gifted mage? Of course, but that is hardly the extent of his skill set.
Hence the inspiration for "Prowess," or: Dorian is the best thing. This will be a set of snippets showcasing just how wonderful the mage from the wicked north really is. (Rating may change as I go...and not all will be fluffy. I will try to keep the small moments humor a consistent thread, however).

Summary
“I am indeed the one who found your son with the whores, my friend. Ask me not what I was doing there, and I shall tell you no lies. The boy had enough cheek, even in his inebriated state, to invite me to join him. It made me laugh, so I dragged him back to the Gilded Quarter rather than simply calling the Templars….”
-Alexius, in a letter to Halward Pavus (from World of Thedas)In canon, Dorian Pavus escapes a religious institution and is finally found “in a drunken stupor in a house of ill repute in the elven slums”. It is where he originally met Alexius and became his protégé. This fic takes place years before the events of Inquisition. It is an AU featuring a much younger Dorian and an Amheotil Lavellan whose life turned out much differently than it did in his main Inquisition storyline.

But as the Venatori move into the south, using Fenris in their plot, It will take years and support from the Inquisition in order to bring Fenris back to himself. That is, if there is anything left of him to save.
Extreme slow-burn with the promise of a hopeful ending.

Summary
If she had it her way, Sharahna would've never left Clan Lavellan. Amidst the forces of the growing Inquisition, even proclaimed as their Herald, Shara does not know how long she will be able to hide the part of herself she is most ashamed of. Born to her mother shortly after her escape from Tevinter, Shara's only ever been around elves who understand--her human blood is a curse, one that must be hidden from view. Shara does not have a moment of reprieve, not after her discovery by the strange Elvhen hedge mage Solas. Quickly, though, he becomes her confidant, the only other elf amongst the troops who might understand: it is exhausting trying to hide who you are from everyone.

Summary
When Dorian finds Fenris for sale at a slave auction, he can’t just sit back and watch him be sold. But intervening will mean purchasing him, and if Dorian lets Fenris go, or fails to treat him how a Magister ought to treat a slave… all of the political progress that he has worked so hard to achieve will be at risk.
At least he took his antidotes, because the wine at this party is definitely poisoned.

Summary
Each day, the Magister comes to the courtyard and finds some new way to attempt to break him, as if there’s some purpose to testing his endurance. This, too, Bull can endure. It would be a bit easier, of course, if the man didn’t insist on monologuing the entire way through.
Every night, his friend comes to him and tips the saucer against his lips. As time passes, more words pass between them, slow at first, but steady and precious.
Fragile.

Summary
"How strange it was, to face something as daunting and wonderful as freedom and know she need not be afraid, because now, she wasn’t facing it alone."
A newly-freed Orana struggles to understand what it really means to be free. As Orana gets settled into her new life, Hawke is determined to support her every step of the way -- but the path to freedom isn't an easy one, and good intentions don't always translate to good outcomes. As Orana learns, for the first time, how to live a free life and make decisions for herself, she makes unexpected discoveries, learns new skills, and even makes some unlikely friends. This is a story about freedom, independence, friendship, and recovering from trauma.
Now featuring Fenris being broody and closed off as he tries his best not to deal with his complicated feelings about life, freedom, and most of all, Hawke.

Reaper, General. Hero.
Shadow Hunter.
While the rest of the world is well on its way to recovery from a great cataclysm. Ven Aladar still feels its weight.
Focus more on the hunt and the duties placed upon her than processing all she lost. But on the insistence of her patron god, she left the path to a world newly connected to her own. A land that does not know her people, their gods, and best of all, they don't know her.
What she'll find, even her patron doesn't know. Maybe she'll find nothing of worth, just continue what she was doing in this new place.
Or just maybe, like her patron hopes, she'll be able to find herself once again. In other words, what would happen when I send an Ark RP character turn dnd character to Thedas? If this turns into a dumpster fire, blame my friend for joking about this.

Lucanis had never been so amused watching someone eat. She paused as she considered every bite, sometimes halving it, like she worried about taking too much though none of her bites could be considered anything but diminutive. She chewed thoroughly, vigorously, always with her fingers pressed to her lips to shield herself. She savored, letting out quiet little sounds of appreciation.
“Is that thyme?” she asked suddenly.
“It is.” He was surprised she could detect it. He had used the barest sprinkling, just enough to tame the bitterness of the onions.
A stirring in the back of his skull, movement from a phantom that had held himself so strangely patient that the absence of him was more jarring than his presence. Cook for her more.
A spark ignited in his chest, a need.

Or sometimes a family is a Hunger demon suffering from a long bout of humanity, her Dalish daughter, a demonicly possessed assassin, and the kooky aunts and uncles they've amassed along the way.

Summary
The sun had set when they reached Redcliffe, and Dorian had a brief moment of panic when he thought they might stay at the Gull. To his relief, they only stopped to refresh the horses. Standing there, waiting for fresh mounts, Dorian could just make out the roof of the Gull- its chimney puffing black smoke into the purpling sky. If he never went back there, it would be too soon. Without the Inquisitor, he’d never have gone in the first place. Then it finally dawned on him that he’d be speaking to the Inquisitor for the first time since… Well, it’s not that Dorian was precious about fondling men. But, as a rule, he rarely saw them again after. And he certainly didn’t work with them. So don’t be precious about it now, he told himself. If it had meant anything, surely the Inquisitor would have said something. Maker’s sake, the Herald of Andraste had bigger things to worry about. They all did.
***
In my head, the events of DAI are Varric's version of the story. So this is a *mostly* cannon-compliant account of Lavellan and Dorian's relationship from "Last Resort of Good Men" into "Here Lies the Abyss." It delves into themes of: structural inequality, grief/loss, and the horrifying ordeal of being known. -

A legal loophole after "Alone" results in Hawke inheriting the entirety of Danarius's estate, including all his slaves—and Fenris. But Tevinter is not friendly to foreigners or fugitives, and as Hawke and Fenris struggle to save both his freedom and her slaves, they find themselves mired in political and magical intrigues whose sinister depths extend beyond anything they've faced.

"You stole Zara Renata's executioner?"
Rook fidgeted under her friend's gaze. Unsure what the response here was (this was her first kidnapping, unintentional as it may be), she gave a small shrug and settled for a small, "Oops?"

Title subject to change.
I am not an expert on the lore and will have made mistakes and / or I have taken creative liberties. I am dyslexic and have not written anything remotely creative in a decade but I am doing my best.
TLDR: Inquisition retelling with multiple POVs. Oh and Lavellan is from a strange clan that revere Fen'Harel and free slaves and such.
