Twenty years ago, mage rights extremists destroyed half of Kirkwall and decimated its population. The United Marcher States retaliated with harsh legislative measures mandating all mages caught within city limits to be made Tranquil and housed in a community psychiatric facility. Threats of international intervention caused the ruling to be reversed six years later, but by then, irreversible damage had been done.
Abigail's family fled to Tevinter to start a new life away from anti-mage sentiments. Solona spent her adolescence in a Tranquil facility.
A decade later, the two of them find themselves in the center of civil unrest in Kirkwall City as tensions from the last twenty years begin to reach critical mass.
What can two mages do against a government that would prefer them both dead?

She, of course, meets our dear friend Danarius.
