There is one thought and one thought only in his mind, and that is to put as much distance between himself and the Cobalt Oasis as possible.
He can barely see its shape anymore, he can’t make out the buildings and the trees and he certainly can’t make out the people, but its shadow still looms on the watery horizon, always hounds his back no matter how hard he tries to run from it.
The sun has sunk further now, the sky is darkening and while the sand is still hot, the air is beginning to chill. The desert is dangerous at dark, everyone always says. Phil hopes it will be kind to him, though with his luck—with his condition, really—he knows it won’t.
And still, he keeps moving.

After being exiled, Tommy didn't think his life could get worse. His only solace in his isolation from his old friends was being able to fly in secret at night (unbeknownst to Dream, who refused to let him do much of anything fun, let alone use his wings). Tommy's wings, one of the only things he has that Dream doesn't.
Until Dream catches him flying.
And rips them off.

Techno isn’t allowed outside during nights where they attack. The village fears that he’d join them. Which he wouldn't do, of course. He just wanted to help his village. Earn a little bit of trust. And maybe they’d treat him better. Look at him with less hostility.
And one night, he gets a chance. His house is blasted during one particularly brutal attack, and he sneaks out and shoots down a hybrid with dark wings.((Content Warning!
