As it so happens, Eddie knows exactly why Buck seems so happy, and why Buck's inevitably going to crash: The Buckley Parents are currently in the state of California. Maddie told Buck yesterday, announced that they’re going to have dinner, all of them– Buck went straight to Eddie’s after that. So. Yeah. Buck seems overjoyed, but Eddie knows that Buck is actively doing everything he can to not think about his parents, to not have one quiet moment alone in his brain.
Everything meaning everything.
Cleaning, hanging out with Chris, watching documentaries, and falling into research pits about the Gros Michel Banana and their impact on the banana flavour.

Summary
It's my Birthday! In 18 days. The premiere of season 8 is in 25 days. I thought to myself, I wish I had someone in my life who would do that whole, 'present-a-day' thing for me, but yeah, no, I'm totally alone. So, I'll do it myself (Thanos)
I was already working on an 'A-B-C' series for Buck, but I lost my job, got horrendously sick, got a new job, had surgery, and now we're here. I'll try to post a present a day. They will not be in order. They are not connected. Every story is some stage of Buddie like pre-relationship, established relationship, married couple, divorce-era, you get it. They all also have some kind of hurt/comfort, angst, I-should-book-an-appointment-with-my-therapist element to them.
So, until Sept. 19th, I'll be posting presents for my birthday and probably cry the whole time. Enjoy!

One night, Eddie, a nurse in the ICU ward that get's an interesting patient in a coma after being struck by lightening. He has a warm electic family that welcomes him with opening arms, telling him an unraveling story of the many layers of Evan Buckley. You cant fall for someone you've never spoken to, right?
Buck is stuck in what he thinks is the perfect dream, but he keeps hearing this guy talk to him, reminding him he has a home to come to and that maybe things arent what they seem. If only he knew who this guy who's changing his life was, one story at a time.

“I have Buck in my Will,” Eddie blurts suddenly, startling Bobby a little. “If something were to happen to me on a call, he becomes Chris’ guardian.”
Bobby is glad they’re currently stuck in traffic because he’s pretty sure they would have needed to pull over so he could fully absorb the information Eddie has just offered him.
“Wow,” Bobby manages after grasping at words uselessly for a full minute.
Eddie laughs, but it sounds a little flat. He massages his temples. “This was not how I was expecting to spend my morning.”
Bobby huffs out a laugh, accelerating gently when the gridlock finally creeps forward. He pulls onto another side street, taking the long way towards the hospital. It would be faster than using any more of the main roads.
“When did you decide that?” Bobby asks finally. Eddie wasn't bringing it up because he enjoys sharing information; he was a private person. He's brought it up because he wants to talk about it, and he trusts Bobby with this.

Summary
Evan Buckley grew up with one understanding; he wasn’t of value unless he was hurt. That belief fueled all his actions, and turned him into the reckless firefighter he is today. But it had also been festering into something more, turning into this ugly monster deep inside him.
When that belief system begins to feed Bucks low self esteem, and lead to mental health issues he is not equipped to deal with, he doesn’t know what to do. But he’s definitely not going to tell anyone.
He can’t be another thing for people to worry about.
But the team begins to suspect anyways, despite how hard he tried to keep them away. And Buck has no clue how to handle it when they begin to break down the walls he worked so hard to put up.

Summary
The AU where Bobby adopted Evan when he was six years old, and then twenty years later Eddie joins the 118 and starts dating Buck... and no one initially realises that Evan and Buck are, in fact, the same person. Part 1 is the story of the identity shenanigans and the reveal.
Part 3 is a collection of missing scenes from the original story, while Parts 4 ('how it could have gone') and 5 ('another way it could have gone') are outtakes and depict two different scenarios where the reveal of Buck and Evan being the same person go a different way.
Part 2 'oh captain my captain' is a prequel and shows the 118 meeting Bobby and then later on Evan.
Part 6 'these are the days we've been waiting for' is the story of Buck's first day at the 118.
Part 7 'may you live in interesting times' is a sequel to that takes place about a year or so later, and Part 8 'I once was lost (but now I'm found)' directly follows on and is a full-length sequel and prequel to the main story.
This series as it is now is standalone and can be considered complete. The only reason I haven't marked it as such is because I do expect to be adding additional installments at some point in the future. Happy reading!
