Through all of Jack's life, one of the prevailing lessons was that people never stayed. No matter what they promised. So when Tony Stark promised that he was going to stay, a small part of Jack was screaming that it wouldn't last. It just wasn't how it worked.
The newspaper article gutted him. But it really shouldn't have surprised him. People like him didn't get to keep things like this.

Dorian has been patching himself up for most of his life. When he gets to Galgani's, he decides he's now also in charge of patching up his new brothers. They suck at first aid anyway, so he's just doing them all a favor. The point is, when someone gets hurt, Dorian fixes it. It's just how the world works.
Tony has some major issues with that. He doesn't express that fact as well as he should.

He's going to kill Tony for pulling a stunt like this while Rhodey had been in the middle of nowhere. Right after he figures out why these kids look so traumatized.
