But the thing about Seth, for all his tragedy – he still had the ability to surprise you. He asked, “What if, y’know, I go first?” You looked at him, waiting for elaboration. “Y’know... get ol’ blind Mag over ‘ere... uh... do that first. Y’know what I’m sayin’? Will you at least, y’know... consider it?”

Standing in front of a camera with the Assassin lurking behind him and waving a knife at their captives as he described all the terrible things they were going to do to them if Dethklok didn’t come wander into their trap, Magnus had been taken aback by his own mind, popping like a blood blister to tell him it was Nathan standing behind him, not this monstrosity. He had only flinched on camera, but stretched on the dodgy mattress later that night, he lay sleepless with his eyes pried open by the shock. Thoughts intruded, marched through his head like an invading army: the hate, obviously, the hate that stewed his innards black and hot, which eclipsed the sun, which twisted his hands into hooks. But beyond that, something else, hard for him to lay a finger on – unreachable, steady, powerful.

He determines to hunt down those responsible. Not even a little bit as funny as that sounds, but funnier than it has any right to be. Gore, rage and obsession in a squalid little basement.

Summary
On the Tribunal's analysis, Charles Foster Offdensen is a sinister and secretive cult leader hidden behind the face of Dethklok. On the surface there seems to be no trace left of his former self, having been systematically erased - but something must have come before.
Long-form in two timelines that run parallel, as Offdensen, entrenched in a very dark period of his life and marked by loss, takes on a frivolous and unwinnable copyright case for the emotionally constipated Dethklok, and three years later as Dethklok first starts to realise its real power upon moving into Mordhaus - and with it, its enemies.
