Part 1 is TGE from the perspective of the staff, part 2 is a continuation, with more wonderful comfort reading but also some SERIOUS feels. For real, part 2 chapter 13 is a massive tearjerker, be forewarned if you're reading this for the first time in public.

Whoa whoa whoa... I didn't have this bookmarked already? How???
This one is an absolute gem and truly a must-read if you enjoy Hermione-Main-Character/Hermione-POV fics. AND - it's deliciously long. 1.2 million words of Hermione-y goodness, but it doesn't overstay its welcome and it's fantastically well-written. I also appreciate that it's not Hermione/Ron, although I found Ron to be significantly more tolerable in this series than some other fics I've read.

Literally just Book 5 of the Protector of the Small Quintet. Yes I just called it a quintet based on a fanfic. If someone told me that Bracketyjack was Tamora Pierce's secret pseudonym that she uses to post anonymously on the internet I would wholeheartedly believe them.
Also, if this was printed it would be seriously doorstopper-length. I currently have it on my Kindle right next to a 1000+ page book, and this is longer. Not that that's a problem, it just means I get more delicious fic to read.
