Donnie has everything perfectly under control. Sure, sometimes he hears the voices of those who aren't there, and sometimes he's not in control of his own body- but those are easy fixes. He's fine, dare he say even better than fine! He's so fine that he even constructed a portal to other dimensions in case the Krang come back! It's not like he worked endlessly, almost obsessively, over the portal for days, missing sleep and family trying to talk to him.
He's fine!
He's even fine when the portal swallows him whole and spits him out into a new universe with nothing but his battle shell and clocking broach.
One with alternate versions of him and his brothers, just starting out and fighting their own version of Kraang and bad guys. He's even fine when he gets dragged into their upcoming battles and fights. He's going to get home anyway; what's the harm in helping out his alternate family fight against Kraang?

Donatello woke up on Monday, had an average day. Nothing special, really. He skipped breakfast, worked in the lab until lunch then went back to the lab until nightfall and left the lair with his brothers.
They fought those two crab brothers and it was all going fine. Until it wasn’t. A well-aimed crab claw that no one saw in time was all it took and there was blood everywhere and Donnie had felt like he was dying even though he wasn’t. Raph was.
He’d pressed his hands against the wound and there was nothing anyone could do and he’d reached for something, anything.
He’d managed to grasp something and—Donatello woke up on Monday. Again.
And again.
And again.
And again. And again. And again, and again, and again and again andagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagainandagain.
Alternatively—Raph dies and Donatello accidentally creates a time loop over it. His brothers keep dying. Monday keeps repeating.

Summary
So, now he had a plan. He'd run and run till he got to that abandoned town that he'd heard so many stories about, what was it -- called again? Oakhurst? -- and then he'd build a grave for Louis, far away from those awful people who he'd trusted only for them to twist the knife of betrayal into him over and over. He'd then mourn him for a few days before finally joining Louis. Simple enough, right?

Upon closer inspection, Legs notices that it's not a kid, but rather an incredibly malnourished man. The man had bandages all along his arms running under his shirt, they looked to be dirty. He was so thin and short he looked delicate, breakable. His long brown hair looked dirty, like it hadn't been washed in days. On his hands in spots the bandages don't cover there's a slight marbled nature to his skin, his palms rough and calloused from some kind of manual labor.
OR
What if Legundo was an evil vampire who still wants to fix Owen and Owen just wants to die.

“The power made me feel alive, I could be me.” He stared at the shadows that no longer welcomed him as one of their own, instead it felt like they were closing in on him, preying on his senses and infecting his body.

Owen had been drunk enough to be pleasantly swimming, eyes blinking languidly— he wasn’t going to turn down free wine, especially from the Goldsmith cellars. But at the sight of Pyro crawling into Scott’s lap with no sense of propriety, he had sat straight and cold and sober, heat rushing to his bloodless face and fingers tightening on his goblet.
Scott had looked… smug, was the only word for it, pulling Pyro’s head down to rest against his shoulder, and indulgently bringing his hand up to run through his fledglings dark hair. Owen found his eyes drawn helplessly to the motion, fingers cold and stiff where they were clenched on the goblet and the table surface, pupils dilated in the dim candle flicker light of the formerly grand banquet hall. Scott had made eye contact with him, his smile slow and sharp. A bare flicker of pointed white teeth flashed on his bottom lip as Pyro let out a content sigh and relaxed, half on Scott’s lap, and half tucked onto the grand chair Scott had positioned at the head of the table.

Owen’s eyes darkened, grief painting his features. “Revenge, no one deserved to live after what they did. After what they did to him!” His eyes turned misty instead. “He was the only one who ever cared, and they set him ablaze…”
Scott sucked in a breath; clearly, he was now in over his head. He probably shouldn’t have asked Owen that question, but—what was that dumb phrase humans always said? Curiously killed the cat, was it?
Whatever, he had more pressing concerns; for example, this young vampire was doing strange things to his heart, he almost felt bad for Owen, but surely not? Scott didn’t care; he was just talking with Owen because he was bored and needed entertainment, not because he cared.
He didn’t care.
