“What was weird?” asked Lucy, sitting down with some atrocious green smoothie.
“Tommy believes that he’s seeing the memories of a past lover of Billy Boils,” announced Melton loud enough for others to hear; to make Tommy sink a bit in his seat because he knew that would land him some stares.
“Damn. Dating one superstitious guy made you really believe, huh?” asked Lucy, taking a large sip of her smoothie before adding, “Maybe I dodged a bullet never dating Buck too.”
“That’s not – I don’t believe,” countered Tommy hesitantly.
Though.
It had been weird.
And.
So real.
And Billy did stop supposedly cursing Evan after Tommy pleaded with Billy to stop at Billy’s grave.
Not that.
Tommy believed he broke the curse.
He hadn’t.

“But you do,” said Lucy, and Tommy didn’t like the smile growing on Lucy’s face, “Buck got you to believe in ghosts.”
“Stop that,” sputtered Tommy, “Don’t say that.”

Summary
Astronaut Tommy Kinard has a chance encounter with space nerd and firefighter Evan "Buck" Buckley at a party before he goes up in space with Dr. Karen Wilson for what should have been a nine-day mission but becomes a several month one. Tommy finds himself growing closer to Evan as they talk to each other through the radio during that long visit to space.

Sam closed his eyes for a moment, focusing on the noise of that motorcycle.
Knowing it had parked next to Sarah’s truck.
Heard the jangling of someone turning the key the wrong way and then the right to unlock the front door and smiled.
Smiled so wide it hurt.

Bucky did that.

Sam heard Bucky walk in; roll his carryon in before leaving it somewhere in the hall; probably seeing the light in the kitchen and making his way to it.
“Smiling with coffee this late at night? All alone in the kitchen?” asked Bucky, and Sam could feel how close Bucky was, “Are you thinking about something specific or just happy to know I’m back?”

Bucky joins Sam on an early fishing expedition.
EXCERPT:
Sam was gorgeous.
He always was.
But there was something about him on the open ocean; breeze rustling his clothes as Sarah steered the ship to fishing waters; the glimmer of the sea bouncing and sparkling in Sam’s own eyes as he gazed into the grand expanse of the waves before them.
The sunrise was soft on Sam.
Warm, vibrant rays that lavished Sam. The way the light hit Sam; the way it accented his cheekbones and subtle smile – it simply infinitely highlighted Sam’s beauty. Not that Sam wasn’t always handsome, but it just heightened Sam’s looks.
“How did I live without this?” Bucky found himself saying, unable to turn away from Sam.
No view was more perfect than Sam, after all. Who could blame Bucky if he missed a hurricane or a shark if Sam was in his line of sight?
Sam turned those dazzling eyes of his to Bucky, mirth in them.
“What? Early morning fishing expeditions?” asked Sam, amused.
“Seeing you. In the sunlight like this,” said Bucky softly, leaning a little closer to the man who had allowed Bucky into his life so seamlessly despite everything, “I don’t know how I lived without you before now.”Series

I’d stay a little longer during Thanksgiving to make sure Sarah’s house was completely decked out in lights and that the ornaments were all on the tree. Made sure the little miniature Santa’s village was made before I left for D.C.,” Sam explained, “All the annoying things.”

Summary
Thanksgiving hadn’t even happened before Sam and Bucky started noticing Christmas decorations everywhere. From the dollar store to the grocery store, even at the hardware store, all they saw were ornaments and tree toppers, tinsel and garland, and anything else one might need to turn their home into their own personal Christmas wonderland. Even the boys’ school was already doing their wrapping paper fundraiser.
And, to be honest, Sam and Bucky found it all to be a bit much.
Frankly, they were both a little disgusted… just for very different reasons.
Or: How Bucky learned to stop worrying about Christmas decorations, and love Sam Wilson.
