Summary
The next day comes around and, when they come across a village at a crossroad, Jaskier books himself a night in the inn and Geralt continues North. Jaskier doesn’t ask if they’ll see one another again. He knows, deep in his bones with a certainty far beyond his years, that the answer is yes.
It is not until he is bathing that evening that he realises why the answer is yes.
He’s so used to the occasional ink splattering on his skin that needs washing off, that he doesn’t even note the words in block cursive travelling up his thigh for what they are for a good moment. Instead, he rubs absently at them with his small bar of soap, waiting for them to dissipate from his skin.
They do not.
He blinks.
Blinks again.
Shit.

“I’m going to miss you,” he settles on.
The snow is melting, but Geralt fusses, tightening Jaskier’s coat over and over again, to the point that his hands have to be batted away. The warmth that spreads to Jaskier’s fingertips almost feels like love. For a moment, he thinks that alone can replace all the emptiness in his chest.
Or,
Jaskier leaves, so he can one day return. At the same time, Geralt learns to do better.

He was leaning against Keishin's shoulder, just slightly - just enough that it might have meant nothing beyond being a bit drunk and a bit chilly and more than a bit exhausted after six long days of training camp. But it might have meant something more. Keishin hoped it did, because if he was wrong, it might make the next day of camp - and the entire foreseeable future - kind of awkward.
He stubbed out his cigarette, gathered up his courage, leaned over and kissed him on the mouth. It was definitely not his best work, as far as kisses went - kind of rushed, kind of clumsy - but if he took too long to think about it, he'd lose his nerve. For a second Takeda seemed startled, and Keishin wondered if he'd miscalculated, but then he grabbed the front of Keishin's t-shirt and kissed him back.
