Summary
They say his fur was initially gray, or orange, or black, or something else, but fear or shock turned it white. They say he never existed until he was on that cart, that the Divines made him from nothing and placed him there, for the sole purpose to destroy Alduin. They say that it was the Divines sense of humor that he was made a Khajiit, rather than a Nord. They say they made him wrong, that something in his mind was twisted from the beginning, and that was what made him mad.
Others say that it was the influence of Hermaeus Mora that drove him to insanity. Others from those say that it was Alduin that shook his mind so, that though he left Sovngarde physically unharmed, that only meant the scars on his psyche ran deeper than flesh could say.
Let them say what they want to say. In reality, there was only one who knows the truth: he hadn’t been mad until he had looked up and seen the axe poised above him, ready to strike him down without a reason.
Ah, but Alduin’s been gone for some time now.
