Summary
And there he was. In front of the window, framed perfectly by the soft glow. Bare chest glistening with sweat, one hand braced against the glass, the other moving with a steady rhythm between his legs.
This wasn't like before. It wasn't subtle. It wasn't shy or fumbling. Every motion was deliberate, measured, a silent provocation.
And the worst—best—part: Eddie's eyes were fixed across the courtyard, straight toward Steve's darkened room. Like he knew. Like he wanted him to see.

Steve moves into a fifth-floor apartment and quickly becomes aware of the window across the courtyard. It stares straight into his own, uncomfortably close, along with the man who lives behind it.

Summary
It’s strange, the way his mind so suddenly changed paths to focus on Steve rather than the pulsating anxiety, but it should be stranger. It’s as though this was some natural conclusion for him to come to, as though this was what his body was made for. Like there was a hole in the universe carved out specifically for Eddie to fit in, a role nice and easy for him to slip into, and all it was doing was waiting for him to find it.
With the peak of his panic attack behind him, a few lights in Eddie’s brain blink back on. Somewhere in the middle, somewhere he can’t reach without help, something tells him that this is big. That the way Steve is speaking to him, the effect it’s having on him, isn’t something he should ignore. And he doesn’t want to, is the thing. He wants to lean into it, wants to be wrapped up in its warm embrace where it’s secure and safe.
Or, the one where Eddie has an anxiety attack and learns a few things about himself.

“I'm working,” he says easily. “Entertaining the masses. Keeping you on your toes.” He steps back half a pace, sword hilt glinting as he slides it off his shoulder, letting it hang loose at his side. “You scare easy, Harrington.”
“I—” Steve’s throat clicks as he swallows the dregs of his fear. “You chased me.”
“Part of the job,” Eddie says with a shrug. “You ran. I followed. Great audience participation, by the way.”

He knew, through rumors and jokes and the literal handcuffs hanging on his wall that Eddie liked things rough. Probably liked his partners rough and strong and durable in a way Steve hadn’t been since the first time he swung a baseball bat full of rusty nails at a monster from an alternate dimension. Since Jonathan and Billy and several unnamed Russian officers had each taken a turn at making mincemeat of his face. Since chipped teeth and concussions and broken bone after broken bone. For all his bravado, for all the time he spent chasing down demons and play-acting a hero, he knew the second Eddie laid his hands on him, he would crumble, and he just couldn’t live with the shame of having his chance and ruining it because he couldn’t keep up.
Or, the one in which Eddie Munson lives and Steve Harrington learns that it’s okay to want.
