Interesting and fun at first, but the more he dreams about this world, the more he starts to wonder if it really is a dream... and the deeper he gets into this futuristic world, the more it seems to affect his life in the present day.
And just how exactly does everything all seem to link in with that douchebag black-haired artist who sits in Starbucks every day?

Frankie kept telling himself this wasn’t the worst life a person could have.
It helped if he listed things. He did that a lot, in his head, like he was tuning something. Okay: he wasn’t starving. His stomach grumbled sometimes, sure, but he always found a way to get a bowl of noodles or some other cheap shit from the stand three blocks from the station, or could heat a can in the workshop when the boss had already gone home. He had a stable job, which was way more than some of the guys he saw drifting through the outskirts, hollow-eyed and jittery, looking like they might sell a kidney for a clean glass of water. He had a roof over his head, technically.
So, you know. Not the worst.
It just also kind of sucked.

Summary
Frank and Gerard each have their own secrets and painful memories that still haunt them every single day. They are both so-called loners, and they prefer to keep to themselves, each having their own reasoning. But when Frank moves to Monroeville, he meets Gerard and ignites a spark of hope between the two, hope that they have found someone who understands them. However, Gerard is unlike Frank in many ways, and he can't let himself get too close with anyone in fear of hurting them. He has a secret, one that everyone at his school jokes about but no one truly believes, and it's one he feels awfully shameful for. He hates himself for it. Frank on the other hand, hates himself because of the infinite list of insecurities forced into his mind by the jerks from his old school.
Both of them have issues when it comes to trust, Frank finding it difficult to trust others while Gerard struggles to trust himself. Can they make it as friends (or possibly more than that), despite missing the one fundamental thing in any kind of relationship? Can they make it despite their lack of trust?
