Summary
Lucius loves Pete. Like really loves Pete. And Pete is just the sweetest.
Then there’s Fang, who despite his larger stature and tough countenance, is also gentle and kind to Lucius.
In fact, during his time on The Revenge, the entire crew had treated Lucius with more care and thought than he could remember ever receiving in his entire life. Even Izzy just wants to yell at him and make him do chores, but…he never lays a hand on the boy. Once he and Jim had come to an understanding, and minus one medically necessary finger, no one on the crew had ever wanted to hurt a hair on the scribe's little head.
And therein lay Lucius’ problem, so he sets out to find what he needs. Though of course he has no idea what that actually is, he's determined to figure it out. All the while his lovers and friends watch and worry.
10/9/23 Edit: So I'm going back through and editing some previous chapters, nothing major, just some grammar and formatting that's been bothering me on some of the older ones. Then I plan to continue! New season has me absolutely feral.

Lucius tiptoes his fingers up Pete’s chest. “We could make some Christmas perversions of our own, though, hmm?”
“That was kind of the idea.” Pete grins as he finds his gift, secreted away in the hidden pocket on the inside of his vest. He pulls it out with a flourish, wrapped in a marbled green endpage he’d torn out of one of Bonnet’s new books. “I made this for you,” he tells Lucius as he hands it to him. “Well, it’s for you, ultimately, but it’s actually for me.”
Lucius eyes him with confusion. “I’m either too drunk or not drunk enough to follow.”
“Just open it, Lulu, then I can explain.”
He raises an eyebrow, then sets his cup down on the taffrail so he has both hands free to tear at the paper. Lucius stares at the bit of carved wood in his palm, then plucks it up between thumb and forefinger to look through it at Pete. Giggling, Lucius pretends it's an eyeglass.
“Alright,” he says, now miming something truly vulgar with his fingers, “explain then. Too small for a bracelet and too big to be a proposal.”
Pete bites his lip, stomach fluttering with embarrassment. “Yeah, so, you know how sometimes I get too excited and, uh, go off before you want me to?”

“Oh thank god,” the man gushes in an English accent as Pete’s boots hit the ground. “I thought I was literally going to die out here. There’s like, actual wild animals running around.”
Pete smiles. “Glad you haven’t been mauled by a pack of coyotes. Anyway, I’m Pete. Triple A said you’ve had some car trouble.”
“Ugh, please don’t judge me by this car, it would have been my absolute last choice, but you can’t look a gift car in the mouth or whatever. Except now it’s busted and left me fucking stranded so I probably should have done, I guess. Sorry, I’m Lucius, by the way.”
Pete, a mechanic in a small town in New Mexico, gets a call from Triple A to pick up a car broken down by the side of the road.
He picks up a lot more than that.

"More your speed?" Pete questioned, confusion apparent on his face.
"I'm going to suck some lucky sailors' dicks," Lucius clarified.

“I killed him.” No explanation, no justification, just a simple statement of fact.
Suddenly the only sound in Pete’s ears is his own blood rushing. He looks at the man before him--the legendary Blackbeard, the pirate he’s admired above all for years, the one who inspired him to abandon his boring job at the docks for an exciting life of piracy--and then his mind’s eye paints a horrible scene for him.
Pete has always had a strong imagination; sometimes he enjoys it, sometimes he loathes it. Right now, he can picture this clear as day: Blackbeard shoving a sword straight through Lucius’ gut. Blood spilling from Lucius’ lips as he tries to make one last smartass, cutting remark at his killer’s expense. Clever, bright eyes glazing over in pain, then going dim. A body that had always been in motion, now unmoving on the ground, a pool of blood spilling out around him in an ever-increasing circle.
He sees all this in his mind, then he blinks, and he just sees Blackbeard. The man who murdered Lucius Spriggs.
“Blackbeard,” Pete declares calmly, loudly, and is surprised that his voice doesn’t shake. “I challenge you to a fucking duel.”
