Summary
This is going to be a crossover AU between The Double/The Marriage of Di Daughter and The Pursuit of Jade/Chasing Jade. I will be making some changes to make this work, obviously, but the basic idea is that Ji Heng and Xie Zheng as cousins getting their revenge together and falling in love in the process. This will probably become a collection because I want to explore their childhood a bit as well.
Most of my research is from Wikipedia, ChinaKnowledge.de and various reddit or Tumblr posts I've come across by googling things. I was going to make a reference document on here but decided against. Feel free to (gently) correct anything egregiously wrong in the comments and I'll either cite my sources, explain my reasoning, or correct myself depending on the situation. Enjoy!

“Alive?” She asks.
“Yes, my lady.”
She hums.
“How unfortunate.” She says, finally, under her breath, and Minho risks a glance at her expression. “Is his situation dire?” She raises her chin slightly, still examining the body of the man on the cot.
“My lady, he is strong. He will be awake in a couple of hours. Just… in pain.”
She takes another long onceover at him, before fixing Minho with a tired expression; “Ensure that he stays asleep until midnight. If he continues to cling to life until then… We will transport him and you to… a residence. Further uphill. Then I will decide what to do with him.”
Minho nods; but in truth, dislikes that he is now tasked with the stranger like a servant would. He did disclose that he is educated with herbs and medicine, but he didn’t explain to what extent, and couldn’t help but wonder if she knew more about him than she led on.
The mistress stands up to leave, but then pauses lightly, a small smile gracing her lips. “Rejoice, child. Your dead husband has returned alive from the war.”Or, the one where Lee Minho, an omega on the run, accepts a ghost marriage to a dead great nobleman for coin.

Avatar Kyoshi, 228, gets informed the Air Nomads have withdrawn their support of her in protest for her choice of conduct (killing one too many sons of rebel warlords is bad).In the Earth Kingdom, this is an act of rebellion.
Avatar Kyoshi handles the problem like she would any other rebellion.
Some of her best Dai Li agents come along.
As does Lao Tieguai, the Immortal, the Spirit of Death.On her path of rebellion-quashing, she communes with Spirits, drills her Dai Li, and commands the heavens themselves.
(She and Lao Ge created the Dai Li. They don't often get the chance to crush a rebellion made of airheaded pacifists).Cao Mengde and Zhuge Kongming would be proud of her tactics and strategies.

Wen Xu smiled at him coolly, walking closer.

Meng Yao lurched forward threateningly. He did not have to feign the rage in his heart to solidify his attackers’ false deductions.
