Just a plate, ceramic and slick from the sink, slipping through Jack's fingers and shattering against the hardwood. A sharp crack, a pause- and then the silence was immediately broken by Merritt and Henley continuing their petty argument.
“Damn,” Daniel muttered, flinching but not glancing up from the books he was currently pouring over. “Whatever that was, you’re cleaning it up.”
