He just shows it SOMETIMES, not always. Painter is just...concerned. He thought he had it bad, but somehow she proved him wrong in more ways than one.
This teenager is badass, in some ways, but very scared and traumatized underneath.
She started out with a rough life, and it seems it'll only get harder from here.
A testament of how much one young woman can endure. How much can this girl handle before she cracks?

You loved p.AI.nter though. You liked drawing too (just as any other kid did) so he quickly became your best friend.
That was until he was taken away. Both your dad and p.AI.nter. You lost both of your best friends.
You were put into an orphanage, where nobody would have believed your story. So, you never shared it.
The older you got, the more you wanted to see them again. It wasn't fair... it wasn't fair.

After being falsely accused of crimes and taken by a shady facility, you were given a 'golden' opportunity. It seemed simple enough; steer clear of a few dangers and go through roughly 100 doors to find and take a little crystal. Some people were skeptical though, and rightfully so. You, however, were not undeterred. This was your one shot at freedom instead of just waiting around for years--how could you turn that down?
The risk was worth it. Well, it originally seemed that way. But after living through it just three times, you knew just why people were so unnerved. Not only was it--like--a 66.66% percent chance of dying in unimaginable ways, but you were the only one reliving this nightmare! Your teammates were completely oblivious to everything down there.
Living through emotional rollercoasters, confusion, and hell itself, you were going a bit mental. Who wouldn't? But in the end... all of that seemed maybe just a little worth it. You started as an unguilty convict with probably twenty friends and family members waiting for your release, but you ended a stranded escapee with two inhuman friends instead. And you were just fine with that outcome.
