This story has been kind of hinted at in discussions as 'klepto!Kara' and 'pen!fic'. It started with a ficlet response on Tumblr that is included here as the start of the story, in case you find the first couple of paragraphs familiar!
The premise: the blue-and-white blouse Kara wears in Bizarro looked more like something Cat would wear than Kara. We assume then, Kara spilled and then borrowed Cat's clothes without asking. Cat has a ... challenging reaction to that development. Kara, enticed, decides to start stealing certain things from Cat to grab her attention.
It, well, works.
She definitely gets Cat's undivided attention.

Even though you’re lying down, blood somehow manages to rush from your face, and all you have the presence of mind to do is silently tuck your feet in as tight as they’ll go, holding your breath and just praying this monster will fall to his death, or somehow not notice you, or—
The shadow’s knee finds purchase on the surface where you’re lying, and his arm is so long that when he reaches out to haul himself the rest of the way up, his hand makes contact with the front of your shin.

One of the first things I learned in the army is that you PHYSICALLY check all of your men as soon as you have security set up. You frisk for injuries, ask if they’re okay, check their water and ammo, report up the chain of command. There’s no way Commander Cody isn’t frisking Kenobi for injuries. All I want is a fic that does this right and has command checking on everyone after battle.

There is a beautiful statue of a person in the middle of a large city, and the rumor surrounding the statue is that when they touch hands with their soulmate, they will become human. Naturally, it becomes a perfect photo and video opportunity to pose while holding its hand.
One cute selfie attempt results in an empty statue podium and you just barely catching a very confused person in your arms.
Bonus points if the current bf/gf is taking the pictureExcept make it Kazolai because it’s me, and you should expect nothing less at this point :)

A modern soulmate AU where Kaz and his Crows are from 1819, and Nikolai and his friends are from the 2010s. Some fuckery with Jan van Eck turns the Crows into statues for ~200 years. In particular, the statue of Dirtyhands has a myth/superstition attached that's truly diabolical if you think about it for more than two seconds, but is ultimately the way Kazolai are able to get together.
