Summary
Most people have some skeletons in their closets, although in a not as literal a sense as the Doctor. Well, okay, they're not literal skeletons. But they are clothes which belong on bodies that are no longer here.
Or: Donna's look through the Doctor's wardrobe spurs on a discussion about regeneration, the Doctor's past, identity, and how humans make all of the above feel more complicated.

“I do not want to avoid half of your language!” Leela said. If she did not speak Gallifreyan the Time Lords looked at her as stupid and savage. And yet she knew that if she did not speak it perfectly, they would still see her as stupid and savage. “I must learn it all. I will not be taught a child’s version.”

AU GITF.
Her first Doctor had loved Rose enough to put her first; her second Doctor loved her like a goddess - distant, but fiercely.
Neither of them ever understood how much she had sacrificed for them, how many dimensions she'd seen, how many wars, how many she'd loved and lost.
Her third Doctor learned that Bad Wolf was a name to be feared; in every dimension.

‘Okay so, this machine thingy is a translator and it’s slowly going out so it sounds like I’m speaking gibberish so don’t worry! I’m not having a stroke, and it should be fixed in a day. Week absolute tops. Also I can barely speak English so conversations would be really difficult for me, but probably really funny for you. Actually it sounds really funny. Haha (:’
And with that the fam let out a ‘ooohhh’ before standing there awkwardly. The Doctor immediately started going to work so they didn’t know if they should leave or stay. Would it be rude to leave? Or would it be weird if they stayed? The Doctor then looked up and said (or at least tried her best to say.)
“Yyyouuhh caaahhhnn goe hmmmmee eff yewwwww wnt. Faaahhm. IIIIII wonnn keehp yyyuuuu eeere’.”
And now they stood there in a bit of shock. That was how the Doctor sounded like- actually sounded like. Her voice sounded flute like in an odd way, melodic, and a bit high pitched. Her words were broken and it was like she was struggling to get them out at all. Which from what she said in her note she most likely was. But she laughed slightly before going back to work. A very, very strange sounding laugh but it was the Doctor’s laugh, so Yaz loved it.

She calmly replied in a hushed voice, “SONYA SHE’S NOT MY GIRLFRIEND! She’s just a really good friend to me.”“Yeah sure. But seriously what’s she doing calling you at 12:00? Does she even sleep??”
“I don’t really know to be honest. She slept when I first met her and she has a bed so I guess sometimes. She told us that once she was able to stay up for a month straight, so I guess once every month at least.”
“I was joking- but a whole month?? Is she okay??”
Oh right. She thinks the Doctor is human. Oops.
“She was probably joking. But she has a horrible sense of time so it was probably just a week. She’s fine. Why am I telling you any of this? What are you doing up anyways, don’t you have school tomorrow?”

Summary
The Timelords have always had a strict ‘no interference’ rule, so when they created the TARDISI, they made it so they translate almost every language but Gallifreyan. Because why would it, it’s not like they would be speaking to anyone. But the thing is, the Doctor loves to talk to people; especially humans. So they had a translator specially made to translate Gallifreyan. Cool! Problem solved!
... But then it broke...
“Sorry about that Yaz. Uh- so what do you guys feel like doing today? There’s this planet and my brother owns the waves, it’s like soda baby.”
...
“Um are you okay? Is this a joke??” Graham asked confused and a bit concerned.

Here is a lie: Gallifreyan sounds like a song. It is the most musical of languages, if you know the tune. When a Time Lord opens their mouth it sounds like a whole choir of angels: imagine the beauty of their debate clubs.
Unfortunately, this is not true.

Summary
Missy groans and leans against the invisible wall that separates them, “Can we skip the dramatics this once? I hate it when I have to feel you brood. It’s like watching someone make constipated faces with their mind.”
At his extended silence, Missy sits herself on the ground with a huff.
The Doctor plucks a book from the coffee table and places it in his lap, fiddling idly with the front cover. “I found Gallifrey.”
