While Zuko tried to hide behind the identity of a simple refugee named "Lee," his relentless work ethic and surprisingly soft nature for the camp’s youngest members caught Jet’s attention. What started as suspicion soon softened into an unexpected intimacy.
Now, known to Jet as his Firelily, Zuko refuses to choose between the crown and the rebel. Driven by a new kind of fire, he intends to reclaim the birthright that discarded him and build a new world alongside the family that finally claimed him.

Summary
A journey documenting Zuko's redemption and his developing relationship with Sokka as he struggles to manage his Blue Spirit identity.
Zuko desperately missed the scorching weather in the Fire Nation. He distantly remembered sitting by the water with his mother, feeding the turtleducks, the sun beaming down on his face. It was a warmth that enveloped him, gentle, not scorching. It made him feel connected to the ancient source of their power. Like Agni itself was shining down on him.
Even as he grew older and had less of a place, much less a person, to call home, his respite would come from the sun’s gentle light.
The Earth Kingdom was milder, although it felt more stuffy. The air did not carry the subtle scent of smoke and blooming Fire Lilies. He could never feel truly comfortable here, surrounded by the menacing walls of Ba Sing Sae.
He felt like a caged bird, one that had never really known true freedom.
Basically, Zuko joins the Gaang earlier, but still has to deal with his conflicting feelings. Sokka is completely enamoured with the elusive Blue Spirit.

Zuko had the scrawny prison guard over and on his back in an instant. His fist curled above his head, igniting itself in flames as he landed on top of him, lips pulled back in a scowl. "Not this time, you piece of shit."
"Whoa, wait wait wait wait! Stop! It's me!" The guard heaved. Dark tan hands peeled off the helmet. Beneath it was an impossible face, and one that he remembered had nestled against his arm ten months ago. Zuko's breath sucked in fast and dryly.
"Yeah," Sokka huffed, a soft smile slowly curling onto his lips as Zuko's fire died in shock. "You're okay now. It's just me."
The time he has spent in the cooler must have been playing tricks on him now. "How... Wh— what?"
"Katara is here too." Like that made everything so much better. "We're rescuing our dad and Suki. And I am rescuing you."
Or
Where Zuko is banished without Iroh or the task of searching for the Avatar for his honor, gets himself a bounty on his head, and has to be saved from Boiling Rock Prison by an annoying Southern Water Tribe warrior that makes him feel really weird.

Jet tries to laugh, but just ends up coughing. It takes a couple seconds for him to be able to talk again, “where would we farm? We live in a city.”
“We could move. Anywhere. We could travel. Go to the Northern and Southern Water Tribes.”
“I’ve never been away from the Earth Kingdom,” Jet says and feels his throat close up, because he’s never going to get to go anywhere else.
He’s dying and it’s not fair. Or maybe it is; it’s not like his hands are that clean.
But he doesn’t want to die."
