Merlin remembers it. He remembers it all. He remembers going back home, sobbing about what he's done and what he's not done. He remembers telling people that he's going to wait. He remembers 525 and 2025 indifferently. He remembers Arthur. The way he said 'Thank you' and ruffled his hair - his last actions. Of course he remembers. He's haunted by his memories daily and what he couldn't stop. But, when Arthur finally returns, he's still haunted. He still remembers. But only this time, he remembers that he needs to let it go. He finally got his Arthur back, the one he's been waiting for for most of his life. But, there's some things he doesn't want to remember. He wants to forget how he hid himself from the man he loves most, but it's so hard to forget when it's all he has left. The only thing that has kept him remembering. If only he got haunted by things he forgot, not what he remembers, then maybe it would be easier to live with the guilt. The guilt of what he could have done, but never did because it was already too late. His destiny had already been written, and he just needed to follow the path, no matter how painful following it was - knowing what was at the end. End of Arthur. He should be happy now, but is he?

Summary
When Merlin and the Knights of the Round Table end up being attacked by a rouge sorcerer, Arthur and the rest of the knights are transported to the future without Merlin.
They wake to an unknown forest with a note that says they are to go North if they wish to ever see their friend again. When they follow the notes instructions, they find a camp of Druids. Surprisingly, the Druids seem to know exactly who they are and keep saying that Emrys must see them.
Now the knights have to figure out what this Emrys guy has to do with Merlin.

With a flourish, Arthur drew his sword from its scabbard, the blade gleaming in the sunlight as he held it aloft for all to see. Everyone’s eyes fixed upon the gleaming steel, their breath held in anticipation. He placed the flat of the sword upon Merlin's shoulder, his touch sending shivers down Merlin's spine.
Just the way he wanted to do so for nearly a decade now.
OR WHERE arthur becomes the king camelot desperately needed and merlin gets the recognition he deserved. he also becomes a knight. just like he deserved to.
