“Ha!” the laugh is so wrong, it grates on her. “My time is over, miss. And things that happened today… they have shown me how mistaken I was in my thinking, even in my heyday.”
Everyone is losing hope. Even hardy ol’ Gerson. Alphys deflates at that.
“Besides,” he goes on, “There is still someone left – you yourself Dr Alphys.”
“I’m not –”
“Ye’r the last remnant of the royal axis, young lady,” his eyes glint. Her heart aches for Undyne again. “Them good folks downstairs… They’re gonna look up to you. It’s all up to you now, kid.”
After the human leaves a grieving kingdom behind, Alphys is newly elected Queen. Even as she leads the remainder of monsterkind through these difficult times she has no space to mourn for what she lost.
She doesn’t know that an old friend she had thought dead will return to her.

Summary
After Undyne manages to kill Frisk and stop them from destroying the Underground, she also ends up being the only one capable of breaking the barrier. When this happens, it opens up not just an entire world of opportunities, but also dangers.
The first story, The Undying Empress, tells of Undyne's struggle to the surface - with Alphys at her side - and the trials that she must go through in order to even start to bring the monsters to the surface with her.
The second story, The Altruistic Queen, picks up where Empress leaves off, further delving into the politics of merging the two societies, as well as explore what happens when the two peoples finally mingle - and collide.
The third and last story, The Determined Prince, spans over years and details the relationship between humans and monsters, as well as goes into detail as to who - and what - Pyri actually is - and what happens when you threaten the Empress and the Queen as a result.
