    “No!” Tim shouted, getting a dirty look from Jason.

    “What, daddy dearest is mad? I don't give a shit, I need…”

    “Jason, no, believe me, you don't want to see Bruce right now,” Tim interrupted again, a grimace on his face. “You can talk to him tomorrow, if you really have to. But not now.”

    Stephanie frowned. “What, is he in one of his usual moods? If you think this is going to end in a physical fight, we can stand aside and bet on who wins.”

    Tim groaned, “No, he’s not…look, I don’t really want to say this out loud, I don’t…”

    He didn’t finish his sentence before a long, loud groan echoed through the cave. And there was no doubt whose voice it belonged to.

     

    (In which Bruce also has contingency plans in case Clark gets exposed to red kryptonite. Too bad he never told his kids, and Jason has strong opinions about it.)

    Lena notes the pleading tone in the hero’s voice and takes a moment to look deeply into those bold, azure eyes. Even though they’re intense, even though they’re filled with an anger Lena has never seen before, they’re also familiar. Why is that? This kind of familiarity comes with knowing someone intimately. She doesn’t have that kind of relationship with Supergirl, it’s strictly business.

    No, there is only one pair of blue eyes Lena has spent what feels like a lifetime staring into. And with a breathless gasp she realizes, she’s staring into them now as well. They’re darker than normal with a hint of mischief, anger and wickedness but they’re still her eyes.

    Easy intro: After a rough introduction and even failing mending relationship between World’s Finest, a member of the Wayne family passes away.     But Lena is getting more and more frustrated by the secrets the DEO (and Supergirl by extension) is keeping from her. She vents her frustration to Kara, who against her better judgement agrees to go with Lena on a non DEO sanctioned outing to one of Lex’s abandoned buildings. There they discover a secret lab, which becomes their prison when they fall victim to a trap Lex has set for Lena and Supergirl, in the form of red kryptonite.

    Lena’s not worried, because for the first time in weeks she’s finally dodged her super hero shadow. It’s just her and Kara, so of course the red k shouldn’t have any effect on them.

    She’s not worried, until she sees the look of absolute panic in her friends eyes.

    Lena turned around to find Kara, sitting on her white leather couch, wearing her usual slacks and a button up shirt, smirking in a way she’d never seen the blonde smirk before. Kara’s eyes were dark as night, but they had a certain glow about them, illuminated by the moon peaking through the glass walls of the office. “K-Kara,” Lena stuttered.

    Mercy's lackey flipped the cover open, and just as Lena blurted out a sharp "Don't," he pushed the button.
    "You idiot," Lena choked out. "That's my signal watch."
    "Signal watch?" said the Child of Liberty.
    "Signal watch?" said Mercy. "Signal watch! You idiot," She rounded on the others. "We need to leave, now. Get Luthor and-"
    Somewhere in the distance, there was a crash of shattering concrete and a series of harsh bursts of automatic gunfire. Mercy tensed, taking a step from the door as the sounds grew closer. Cracking concrete. Rending metal. Screaming.
    "You have no idea what you've done," Lena choked out.
    "What do you mean?"
    "The Kryptonite in your chest," said Lena. "It's red."
