"It's like riding a bike. Once you learn you never really forget," Mike said, taking another sip of his tea. He made a face; it had probably gone cold by now. That or he put too much sugar into it. Mike hated sweets almost as much as he hated the floral tea Gerry liked. Tea snob.
"I never learned how to ride a bike," Gerry said, though his voice was clearly resigned.
"Sounds like a you problem," Mike said, leaning onto the table. Gerry kicked him, and the blonde cursed under his breath. Gerry would pay for that later, but in the moment it was very satisfying.

“Melanie King?” he asked without any preamble, and when she nodded and went to say something, they held their hand up, “I’m Jonathan, Head Counsellor of the Beholding Cabin and Camp Archivist here at Camp Magnus. Walk with me.”
And then, he started walking confidently in a familiar direction while flipping through papers on a clipboard, not paying any real mind to where he was walking or whatever was in his path because they didn’t have to.
They knew this building, and the whole camp, like it was the back of their hand- Like it was another mark there, an invisible one to accompany the little black eye logo that signified his place in The Beholding Cabin.
Or,
Newly promoted Jonathan Sims was excited to take over the role of "Camp Archivist" as given to them by Camp Director, Elias Bouchard. But when a new camper shows up and a vision of something he wasn't there for comes with her, they start to worry that maybe, the new title brought something more sinister with it.
This triggers an investigation into the camp that involves people Jon never thought they'd speak to- Or, in the case of their childhood friend turned awkward peer, Martin Blackwood- someone they never thought they'd speak to again.

The thing looked shocked. “Oh, darling, no! And before you get any more awful ideas in your head, I didn’t do anything to your friend. He simply had to go home and change out of wet clothes.” The thing rolled it’s eyes, slouching grumpily in it’s seat. “Goodness, where would you get that idea?”
“What…” Jon paused. “What are you?”
The thing smiled, and the black aura appeared again. When it lifted, Jon couldn’t keep in a yell, stumbling backwards and knocking over a pile of papers.
Something green and reptilian grinned at him, mouth filled with rows of sharp teeth. It’s eyes blinked sideways, like a lizard, and it tossed it’s long blonde hair like a strange supermodel. It laughed, seeming to find Jon’s reaction amusing.
“Really, darling, that’s quite rude.” It shook a finger at Jon, as if scolding a child. A thick, green tail flicked, as if to accentuate the strangeness of this new guest. “Name’s Double Trouble. Actor, espionage, pianist extraordinaire.”

“I’m fine, I’m fine,” Jon said from where he'd fallen on the floor, “I just need to get a statement.”
“No,” Martin replied eloquently.
“What do you mean, ‘no?’”
“You’re not going to do work right now, Jon, you can barely stand.” Jon got back to his feet, straightened his back, and held out his arms in a defiant 'ta-da' gesture. Martin wondered, not for the first time, how he’d managed to fall for such a stubborn idiot.
Rather than voicing that thought, however, he took out his phone, pulled up the maps app, and handed it to Jon. “Put your address into my phone, I’m taking you home.”
“What?”
“If you won’t let me take you to a doctor, I’m at least taking you away from statements, and tape recorders, and work.”
Jon is sick. Martin takes care of him. They have a few conversations they've been putting off.
