Summary
In Starscream’s honest (and very humble) opinion, this was one of the worst days of his life.
And that’s against some very steep competition, you know! Millennia upon millennia of having the worst luck known to Cybertron and beyond really lends itself to a never-ending stream of horrible events that all culminate into an ever-present world-weariness and severe paranoia, all channeled into one (unfortunately small) seeker.
Today in particular, though, seemed to deviate from his usual pattern of bad luck, in the form of an irate Autobot.

"So you're willing to force us into a bond neither of us would ever want, to risk literal insanity, just so you can get your precious peace?" Megatron says, voice filled with disbelief and disgust.
"It doesn't matter what I want," Optimus replies, ignoring the freezing ice creeping closer to his spark.
"And it doesn't matter what I want, either?" Megatron snarls at him.
"This isn't about us!" Optimus says, louder than intended. He berates himself for losing his composure when Megatron's lips curl into a smirk. "I am willing to do anything to keep Cybertron safe."
"Safe from me, you mean," Megatron says, gesturing towards the dark halls of the Nemesis outside of Optimus' prison cell.
"Yes.”
An arranged bond is a dangerous, loveless union in which one's death can have catastrophic consequences for the other. It's a trap with no way out.
It's also Optimus' only chance to end the war, so he proposes a deal Megatron is unable to refuse.

Meanwhile Meanwhile, things on Cybertron go from bad to worse as Nominus and Ultra Magnus close their fists around the Autobots in preparation for the Decepticon invasion lead none other than Optimus and Megatron themselves. Jazz doesn't know what to do about the whole thing and Sentinel Prime doesn't like the new attitude his Major has.

Megatron, Captain of the High Guard and reigning Champion in the pits of Kaon, gets assigned to work for Prima Prime - He has a new, shiny prospect who needs a Guard, and who better to protect them than the relentless, fearless Megatron?The job is simple: protect Prima's prospect from harm.
Easy enough since the peace treaty was signed with the Quintessans; the largest threat to Prima's precious prospect would be whatever paperwork the Prime's decide to throw at them...
Megatron expects to be bored to tears by this assignment... but when he finally meets with the prospect he quickly realizes why they need protection.It's not so much protection from others that's needed, but more so protection from themselves - to Megatron's detriment.

The war was over. Megatron was no more. Two seekers were imprisoned by the Autobots. But in the med bay Ratchet uncovered something absolutely terrifying. Skywarp and Thundercracker were just sparklings, forced into a war they did not understand.
Ratchet did what he needed to save the two young Seekers, but they are not thankful for that.A lot of pain fear and raw emotions, but don't worry Skywarp and Thundercracker have each other. Well unlike Starscream.

Summary
Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp are some of the first decepticons on Cybertron. Starscream's not in it for all the right reasons, but he is in it, and a new world order would suit him just fine if he could rise to the top of it. His lofty plans are for nothing. Starscream and his trine never come back from a mission and are assumed dead, hunted down by the autobot council.
It is a surprise, then, to find them frozen in stasis three million years later, after the explosion of the great war and the fall of Cybertron. The decepticon cause has changed around them, and so have Megatronus and Orion Pax.
OR
The area was swarming with autobots-- where was he?-- and Starscream, hiding, searched desperately for a familiar face. He tugged on the trine bond, but no one tugged back. The connection felt dead.
There! In the distance, Starscream spotted a familiar boxy frame, the red and blue paintjob shining bright against dull, faded glacier.
Primus, that's Megatronus's mech! Starscream thought. Orion Pax was little else-- he wasn't even a decepticon, only some wishy-washy affiliate, and he couldn't fight because he didn't believe in harming so much as a scraplet. What is he doing here?

Wings shredded, metal bent and burnt and melting, absolute agony. The last thing he sees is the Golden optics of the murderous dragon that should’ve long been extinct, rage depleting as his own red ones flicker and falter. He was no longer inventing. His last vents were agony. Until they weren’t.
Starscream now finds himself in infinite darkness.
Was this the Pit?
Primus- he was dead. Oh well. As the disgusting little fleshbags would say,”Once you hit rock-bottom, the only way to go now is up.”
And for Starscream? Up was salvation.
