His wrists were chained behind his back, trapping him to a wall. It had been three days since Steve had last seen his captors. Water was starting to run low in the doggy dish they had given him, and food only came with his captors. He’d been in this cell for a while, only coming out to get questioned. And to make his insides sing when he wouldn’t talk. If he was keeping track of the days correctly, he’d been here for at least a year. Maybe a bit longer. But it had to have been about three days since he last saw his captors.

Summary
"Merlin!” He said, smiling brightly with eyes wide. “Merlin, my love!”
“Oh Gods and Goddesses, please save me,” Merlin mumbled to himself as Arthur scrambled off the table and ran to wrap his arms around Merlin. The sorcerer groaned and looked over his shoulder at Arthur.
“But it hurts to be apart.” Arthur whined, proceeding to unceremoniously drop all 180 pounds of himself onto Merlin’s lap. “It hurts deep in here.”
Arthur grabs Merlin’s hand and rests it over his heart. Merlin just looks at him with a deadpan look as he wrestles his hand back and tries to shove Arthur off.

Or Merlin believes Arthur has been hit with a love spell and has to deal with an insanely clingy Arthur for two days while he tries to figure out how to break it.
A talk with the druids leaves him thinking about his supposedly unrequited love (and how it might not be so unrequited)

Summary
He’d been asleep, in his bedroom, when it happened. His parents were screaming from downstairs, and the smell of smoke filled his nose. He found out later, much later, that his mother had forgotten to turn off the stove. One thing led to another, and the entire house was on fire. Steve had just enough time to grab his wallet, a jacket, and some shoes, before he had to leave the house. His parents went out the front, he went out his back window. The fire was so bad that several of the trees were catching fire and it was impossible to round the house and get to the front yard.
Steve Harrington is declared dead, but he is very much alive. So he figured he would just roll with it.
