Summary
Holding back a grunt, Merlin craned his neck backward. Maybe he was injured and didn’t realize? He twisted his head around — neck oddly more flexible than he remembered — as he tried to take stock of himself. And Merlin froze. Because instead of his usual tunic and red neckerchief… were feathers. Lots and lots of feathers.
The resulting screech that left Merlin’s throat was inhuman.

Or, a hunting trip goes awry, as so many do, and Merlin is hit by an errant spell. If there’s one thing Merlin can take away from this, it’s that clearly the Fates have a sense of humor. Why else would he be turned into a merlin?

Yet, the scene below remains. Four figures, unsettlingly familiar even under the Sharingan eye. There isn’t a single imperfection in the genjutsu. Even the chakra signatures are frighteningly accurate. For a second, Hound recalls the seal’s sigil for “time,” but casts the thought aside as soon as it forms.
No. It’s convenient, too convenient. What better way to lower his guard then to appear wearing the guise of those he’d loved?

Or, some assorted scenes and situations that aren’t part of the main fic, “How to Solve a Murder and Incite a Rebellion” but are wonderful and hilarious nonetheless.

Summary
In unearthing the Nomu Factory, the Heroes and police of Japan discovered a body. This was not unexpected, but the nationality and uniform of the corpse in question… that was. Because this failed Nomu wore the uniform of Amestris, a war torn nation from the isolated continent of Atossa, where Quirks and modern electronics had never developed and never worked.
Edward Elric hoped he could retire from military service in peace, traveling Amestris while his brother Alphonse went to Xing. This is put on hold when now-Führer Mustang asks him to travel to the Outside, to the world beyond that was barricaded for centuries after the development of something called ‘Quirks’. A soldier has been killed and Amestris needs to know more about the Outside.

Or, Edward Elric and Amestris meet the greater world of Heroes and Villains. It remains to be seen who’s more traumatized by the encounter.

(Or, I like Age of Calamity but am spiteful that I didn't get what it originally said on the tin. I expected tragedy and "everybody dies". I am happy there exists a timeline where "everybody lives" but I still wanted the angst and tragic catharsis.)

Summary
"Exile still seems the best option, Stoick..."
Stoick should have known better. While he didn't know much about his son-especially now-he knew the boy was clever. It should have been no surprise when a guard burst into the Council Meeting and revealed that Hiccup had escaped the cell Stoick put him in...hours after the boy was revealed to have saddled a dragon.
Hiccup is gone, and so is the beast.
They search, but do not find him. Berk falls asleep one night and awakens in the Great Hall, where the torches come to life and cast an image of their isle on the wall, from which floats Hiccup's voice, years younger.
AKA, Hiccup forfeited the final challenge, leaving Astrid with the right to kill the Nightmare. Story picks up in the Race to the Edge era, except Berk never learned the truth of dragons, no one knows how Hiccup really lost his leg, and stories of a hooded 'vigilante' riding a Night Fury have been long whispered...and Berk will see it all unfold.

I don't often read "watching / reading the series" stories but this one is the magnificent exception! Characterization is incredibly accurate and it weaves the two concepts in interesting and believable ways. Also, excellent Stoick POV and foreshadowing of future plot points :)

The Harunos are eager to meet their daughter’s new genin team. Sakura isn’t sure that’s a good idea. Kakashi scrambles to groom his feral-raccoon students into something that won’t send Sakura’s parents running for the hills. Naruto and Sasuke are trying…someone’s best, that’s for sure.

Okay this is one of the best 'told by documents' stories I've ever read. As someone who's written articles and spent a decent amount of time examining narrative journalism it's really well on display in Jocasta's articles - plus how it integrates scientific papers examining things. Exactly how this sort of thing would go down! (And I appreciate how it includes and examines the fandom that would definitely exist and how different people deal with 'an idol / admired individual whom has committed immoral acts')

It's not all bad, being friends with an Avenger. Thor has some great stories, Asgardian Mead, and is handy for resetting dislocated joints. Also, Thor's friends think Daredevil has the best eyesight in New York, and Matt certainly isn't going to tell them otherwise.
