Summary
Many things are different and many are the same as Harry begins his fifth year at Hogwarts.
Here, living with Dursleys that aren't just neglectful but outright abusive made Harry unable to withstand more than a few weeks of Trelawney's "predictions" back in his third year. Instead, he took Ancient Runes, and uncovered that he had a prodigious knack for runic magic, which opened the door to the darkest of rituals and the magic of mind and soul. A year later, Harry uncovered something horrible within himself - a parasite.
So, when Voldemort sends him dreams of corridors and doors, Harry sends him pieces of hell in return.

Summary
Escaping Morgana's most recent attempt to end Arthur has the unfortunate result of everyone forgetting that Merlin ever existed. Now alone, Merlin continues to work towards the goal of peaceful magical integration, but he also has to work to find his place again amongst the knights and Arthur. If he's not just Arthur's bumbling servant, is there a chance they could be something more than friends? Or has Fate already written them as a tragedy that can't be avoided? And why won't this stupid fumorroh in his neck die already?
It's not an easy life to be a child of Fate's control. Will Merlin be able to save them or will he bring them all to ruin?

“Please… I just need some time. To come to terms with this,” Arthur pleaded.
Merlin rose from his seat, “But you will? Come to terms with this I mean. I just… Arthur I could not bear to lose you. Everything I have done, everything that I am is for you. I don’t need you to be okay with this right now, I know this is a shock, but eventually? Do you think we will get there?” Merlin asked desperately. He forgot long ago who he was without Arthur, and honestly he didn’t quite feel the urge to figure it back out.
“I… yes, Merlin. It will take time. I’ve a lot to think about, but I do care for you. I think we will get there… eventually.”
Looking back, Merlin could almost laugh. How could Arthur say that and still call Merlin the liar?
Or
Arthur discovers Merlin’s magic and doesn’t take to it quite as fast as Merlin hoped. Or at all really. Can Arthur figure out what he wants before the choice is taken from him?

Merlin escapes from Morgana before she can heal him or implant the Fomorroh, leaving him lost and injured in the middle of the forest. By the time Arthur and Gwaine find him he is sick and exhausted, but on the way back to Camelot he manages reveal something shocking - he knows who the traitor in Camelot is, and that they are in league with Morgana.
But will Arthur believe him? And what will he do with this knowledge?or

He asked. Arthur finally glanced up from the papers in his hand to look at him, pausing his steps altogether. Merlin waited.
"...Merlin, you fell over trying to put boots on." He said. Merlin grimaced, looking down at his feet.
"I hadn't realized you were supposed to wear them all the time." He muttered, uncertain what this had to do with the fact he could murder everyone within a ten mile radius. Arthur sighed. "And those are bold words from someone who can't dress himself!" He added indignantly. Another sigh. Humans did that a lot as it turned out.
"Merlin, that's your job."
"And I've taught you several times. It isn't that hard."
"No, I - " Arthur started and closed his eyes. "I don't have time for this."

After living with demons for sixteen years, Merlin decides to explore his human side by venturing to Camelot. Also, he has a destiny to unite his species and bring magic back into Camelot, but he's not too worried about that.

It is clear that the feeling is not reciprocated, clear that in Arthur’s eyes, he will never come first. There’ll always be people coming before him, and he’s made peace with that long ago – but if even Agravaine can come before him, then anyone could, no? Anyone could replace him. Call Merlin a traitor and have Arthur get rid of him. Anyone could.Merlin no longer feels safe in Camelot.

Summary
When Sirius runs away in 1976, Regulus starts writing him letters he never intends to send. They're simply a way to talk about all the things he can't say out loud to anyone - a chronicle of his descent into the Death Eaters, and the eventual realisation that he made all the wrong choices.
In 1997, Harry is searching for the Locket-Horcrux at Grimmauld Place. Instead, he finds a stack of yellowed parchment that not only tells a tale that's more captivating than it has any right to, but might also hold the key to information on the remaining Horcruxes. Regulus Black installed a failsafe.
Though neither Regulus, nor Harry, Hermione, Ron, and Sirius expected the result of the ritual to be quite this literal. With an Ex-Death Eater who was assumed to be dead in their midst, the Horcrux-hunt goes a bit differently. Regulus is mostly conflicted if his unexpected second chance is really worth all the trouble his company keeps putting him in.
