The spin-offs you’ve read, they’re pretty accurate when it comes to some things. Long story short… I’m Merlin and I was tasked with keeping Prince Arthur safe so that we could create a good kingdom, but in the end he died and I am cursed with immortality. The King only returns when the world needs him both and he was born into that body there.” Merlin said pointing to James who waved. “That is a cockatrice and it’ll kill all of us if you don’t let me go down there with the oaf.”

Uther is bent on the destruction of magic through a man called Emrys, who is said to be the embodiment of magic itself. He knows Emrys is an elf, and has declared war on them as a result. Arthur helps, but learns along the way that things are rarely as black and white as they first appear.

Merlin is an orphan-turned-whore who’s seen and experienced too much to believe in dashing knights in shining armour. One night, Arthur makes Merlin an offer too good to be true: stay with Arthur and be his personal whore and Merlin will never worry about being cold or hungry again. But Arthur is too powerful, too scary, and Merlin is too world-weary to believe that Arthur’s offer is as black and white as he claims.

Summary
This a sequel to You Have Got to Be Kidding Me.
Arthur and Merlin are now committed in a Civil Partnership and finally get to live to together. Merlin is still recovering from the injuries he received in the motorcycle crash and Arthur is coping with losing his Ministerial position as well as his Parliamentary seat. Both are exploring what it means to live together and how to build a future where they can both grow.
On the way they find bumps, potholes and occasional craters on the road but they also learn more about love. And possibly: Apple trees, cars, public seating, weather, and cats. Not necessarily in that order.
