On impulse, Mithrun grabs Kabru by the strap of his armor and pulls him down. One brush of Mithrun’s lips against his, Mithrun’s open mouth against the gentle curve of Kabru’s, just to test.
Just to taste.
He lets Kabru go and nods. “Okay. Let’s rest,” he says, and Kabru, looking rather thunderstruck, follows him.

It’s homeroom once again, and once again, Kabru finds himself staring longingly at the back of his teacher’s head. Slowly, slowly, he lets his eyes travel down.
Down the silver of his hair, tangled curls cut into a short cute bob, the pale nape of his neck and the gray collar of his coat. It had to be tailored—it showed off his figure too much to be something off-the-rack. His green pinstripe pants were cut in an endearingly old-fashioned way.
Mithrun of the House of Kerensil, their new elven homeroom teacher, took his job seriously, and that had been the source of Kabru’s doom.

“Captain, isn’t that Kabru right there?” Cithis said, her tone of voice casual, but her eyes were glinting with something mischievous as he nudged Mithrun’s side. “Ah, I think he was just caught under a mistletoe. Silly boy.”
Mithrun blinked, trying to process what Cithis had said. “... Mistletoe?”
“The plant hanging right on the top of that archway. If two people are caught beneath it, they must kiss. It’s good luck if they do it: bad luck if they don’t.”

OR: Mithrun struggles this Christmas with rekindling his desires during the national season of wanting things whilst also trying to catch Kabru under a mistletoe. Yes, these are two separate missions.

Summary
Kabru could only feel relief—Mithrun’s lack of interest in him meant he could move and plan freely without alerting his suspicions, and the perfect replica of the elf served as a reminder that Kabru’s own observational skills hadn’t dulled. Which were both, without a doubt, positives.
Besides, it’s not like they were even an actual party.
A lot changed in the 6 days Kabru and Mithrun were waiting to be rescued.

"Mr. Mithrun would never have been gifted consent, no matter should he...!" -She struggled for words- "... sh-should he be of sound body and mind. Please, Detective. Have faith in me when I say that I truly believe you are his only hope. Perhaps even saving him in more ways than you could ever know!"Kabru found himself looking towards the envelope from earlier. Atop it were two pictures: one beholding a beautiful young man, wavy hair, sharp elven ears and bright silvery wide eyes, while the other... the same man. His hair sheared and clumped, ear tips crudely hacked off and one eye, his now only eye, bruised with exhaustion, the light of life completely dulled to a black iris. He more resembled a memorial death photograph as opposed to a living portrait.
This was the current Mithrun of the House of Kerensil: the victim of this case Miss Pattadol presented him with, and now, Kabru's fiancé.--- Please read the notes at the beginning!

Man clawed up her sediment with dirt beneath his nails, taking what he could find in his desperation– in his desire for something better. One day, he’d realized there was nothing left to take: and yet he was the same man he’d been the day prior. Always was. Always would be.
The Earth didn’t die, no. Man had killed her, and for so little.
