The war with the All for One ended and Izuku was allowed to rest, using the remaining energy of the One For All to save some more people, finish school and then move over to another profession that allowed him to help people, while enjoying the fame of being at the forefront of saving the world. And thus ends his story.
....
Yeah, right. No way it would be so easy. Instead of enjoying his early retirement from the peak of heroics, he ends up waking up as some sort of biomechanical facsimile of a person in the distant future. And it's not even the distant future of his own world, but of some sort of alternative timeline? And in space? With his first acquaintance in this foreign world being a psychopathic AI who considers AM and Skynet to be their role models?

When Reason Fails is insanely goated and possibly my favourite Mirrond fic of all time. The others are all still fun, but not all time favourites like that one is. There's still some REALLY good stuff in there, though, so they get to ride the coattails :P

Summary
Midoriya Izuku wakes up, only to discover that he is in the far future (possibly) and in another galaxy (also possibly).
Oh, and he also never existed, and isn't actually a human, but some sort of biomechanical robot that defies any sort of classification, created to resemble a protagonist of an ancient superhero manga in both both body and mind. And he isn't alone.
He is now faced with insurmountable odds, starting from such a horrible threats to his sanity and life as Bakugou Katsuki with an access to voidship-mounted ballistic missiles, Rumi Usagiyama now promoted to the role of a space marine... and Hatsume Mei. Literally just Hatsume Mei, but the access to space shipyard and its production capabilities (and an entire star system) has definitely made it worse.
Oh, and also rogue AIs, ghost ships, alien bioweapons and, worst of all, human politics.
That's definitely not going to end horribly.

There was one that he was particularly fond of who typically sat at the counter with a book of ancient poems of varying societies.
At their first meeting, the man had strolled up to the counter and said “I like you, you’re quite pretty for a human.” He paused, staring intently. “I have a knack for knowing these things.”
Zhou Zishu looked at the Vulcan patron, returning his stare. With a small laugh, he raised an eyebrow at him. He had a gut feeling as he searched the dark eyes in front of him.

Below the Mandalorian is already in motion, beskar a glinting contrast to black walls and floors. Luke’s eyes trail him as he moves, bitter and gluttonous. Watching as Din takes stock of the concrete half-walls, helmet tilting upward to survey the turrets above. Exploring terrain before the simulation is initiated, his professionalism unaffected by the tension that still lingers beneath armor.
Compartmentalization is a skill Luke learned involuntarily; a way to cope with the horror that was once his daily existence. Din, by contrast, embodies the very practice of it. That rigid separation between self and other.
The Mandalorian’s inner world is so vast, Luke could get lost in it.

Once upon a time the PTO, Frieza’s feared military operation, came to Earth. There was no way for the inhabitants to defend themselves, and almost no one survived. Two of the survivors included Dr. Briefs and his 12 year old daughter Bulma.
Now, roughly 10 years later, and Bulma is stranded on planet F-567, separated from her father after an attempted landing on a different planet. All she wants is to get back to her father on F-387 and see if those wish granting balls are real or not…
Vegeta has been in charge of his unit for a few cycles. It might just be him, Nappa, and Raditz, but at least he has command of an actual ship. He tries to justify the monotony of their boring purges, and endless dirty work, but without a real challenge, he feels so bored.
It isn’t until a chance encounter with a strange blue-haired woman who has the nerve to try and steal what is his that his life becomes a bit interesting.
This is a slow burn, but things will heat up around chapter 16. This is going to be a long one just to warn you too!
