The young man – Dio still had yet to receive any name or title to call him by, not that he particularly cared to – looked away from the gathering crowd of ravenous mongrels eager to watch a fight, and to Dio's waiting judgement, face giving away nothing.
…No, not nothing. A subtly raised eyebrow spoke of a wordless, incredulous question to Dio’s intelligence, silently judging him for thinking enough of himself to speak those words at all. Not that Dio was the sort to shrink in the face of shame tactics, but he sneered at the attempt anyway, confident that no onlooker would notice Dio’s uncharacteristic and unrefined behavior in favor of watching the impromptu brawl taking place a few meters away.
A punch colliding solidly against cheekbone could be heard from within the dense circle of enthusiastic onlookers, and Dio had no doubt someone just lost teeth.
The sudden cheering and hissing of the crowd was just loud enough that he barely parsed out the following words, spoken casually and without adjusting for the noise:
“Do you believe in gravity?”
