    2: Tommy hated working with others and was dogshit at it

    3: Tommy didn't want to watch them die when he ultimately failed

    Icarus had six months to train them, each month more daunting than the last and every mission unveiling more of the truth that was seemingly laying out in the open.

He doesn't have the time to dwell over little things, he has a country to run, festival to plan, etc. And it doesn't matter that his father barely even looks at him because he's doing important things, they both are. The king is... leaving a 17 year old to run his nation and Theseus is... the one running that nation-
    But it's fine! It's all fine and dandy, he can handle it!
    And then-
    Then his father brings a commoner into the palace. But that's fine! Except he somehow earned all the love from Theseus' brother and father that he should've gotten.
    And he's drowning, his walls are crumbling, everything is fine!

    But it's really not and it all comes to fruition at the festival when he finds people who actually care.
