Summary
Claudia just needed a place to work after inheriting her grandfather's house along with his debts. Shinra needs someone to get the mansion back in order after the caretaker decided to steal whatever looked valuable and skipped town. Its a win-win situation for the both of them, since Claudia would rather do anything than work for people who have treated her like shit since she showed up.
Jenova has been trapped all alone in a Mako tube since the scientists stole her son and Lucrecia's presence faded from her mind. The human woman's notions of family and progeny seem to have infected her, giving her an emotional and biological drive to regain what she lost.
Claudia thinks the house is haunted, and knows if she can just figure out where the basement door is hidden she can find out for herself.

Summary
Hojo is dead. Sephiroth is now the director of Research and Development, and he is trying to fill the void that the Professor has left while ending the cycle of abuse. He comes across experiments of Hojo's and has to battle his own emotions and morals while making decisions that will keep Shinra off his back and keep his sanity at the same time. One of the many specimens is what appears to be simply a traumatized feral human woman. Her will to survive touches Sephiroth's heart and he wants to help her with all he can. Will he stand by his own senses and do the right thing? Or will he fall from grace and restart the cycle?

My name is Steven Rude.
Eight years ago, a failed terrorist attack on a mako reactor outside of the city of Midgar in a neighboring state left me clinging to my life from extreme mako poisoning. I was there to stop AVALANCHE but, more importantly, to save her. She told me that she could stop the attack, that she could put an end to it all. I begged her not to as it was too dangerous. She ended up saving my life, dragging me to safety while her cohorts escaped, leaving Shinra to decide her fate. The government decided to make an example out of her, sent her to a desert prison hell. I promised myself I would get her out, no matter the cost.
That's when Tseng came to me with a proposition. All I had to do was retrieve a government scientist that ran off with something dangerous and his "employers"--his true masters, not the Shinra administration--would grant my wish. To cement my cooperation, he tossed me my sister's locket. She had been missing for over a decade, leaving one night saying that she had discovered something "inhumane" that the government was doing. I never saw her again after that.
I accepted.
I wish I hadn't.
