Ruby gave the tree a wide berth as she angled her way to the pantry, her hechshered food all marked with sticky notes that nonetheless had never stopped Penny from swiping a bottle of kiddush wine. She pulled out a box of Cheerios, making a face at the festive red-and-green packaging on the box, and pretended not to notice the small stack of bills on the table. Since Blake and Yang had gotten their own place, everything had gotten pricier, all three of them working longer hours. It was good that Penny and Weiss had Christmas off, they deserved it.
(Ruby had to beg and plead with her manager to get home in time to light Chanukah candles eight days in a row two weeks ago, and Goodwitch was still giving her dirty looks.)
