I was going to write a whole review but I got silly and wrote it in a comment hehe… so I’ll just paste it here
Let me start by saying that I feel so, so lucky to be a part of the vocaloid fandom just because I had the opportunity to read this. The way you slowly built this world, the way the story gradually intensified up until the climax had me at the edge of my seat the whole way.
The way you wrote quiet, elegant moments like Rin and Miku’s date, the way you wrote intense action scenes like the fundraiser, the way you wrote raw, emotional scenes like Rin’s angst and Miku’s eating disorder—all of it felt so visceral and so real to read. This is honestly better than many professionally published novels I’ve read.
Not to mention I love how each character was so carefully crafted!! They all had their own struggles apart from the main plot, adding to their “realness” as people. They were so dynamic, they struggled, they learned and grew, and I think that’s really beautiful. I still have mixed feelings on Luka till the end though…
On top of that I’m an absolute sucker for sci-fi and fantasy novels. But somehow, you managed to blend both styles and it fits so amazingly well!! From the hovercrafts and lavender sky and the hint of far-flung planets and nations to the glittering balls and gowns, somehow everything came together so perfectly.
Lastly, I want to say that the subtle references to the original song Romeo and Cinderella as well as references to the original fairy tales/play did not go unnoticed!! I had to think about some more than others, and maybe I was overthinking some of them, but it definitely made the reading experience more enjoyable.
I must say, when it comes to writing goals, this is what I will think of. Thank you for writing and posting this. I’m really excited to read the sequel (which I hope you complete someday ;;) and the other stories in this series!!

Summary

The world of Vocaloid is an odd one. Are these humanoid synthesizers simply vocal synthesizers with a human form, or is there something more to them? Within the world of simple, boring humans, these beings are shrugged off as “just instruments” and leave it as that; however, it is not the case, far from it, to be precise. Some are robots, others are humans who become cyborgs or androids, and there are a handful of supernatural beings such as aliens or monsters. A lot of them were created in a laboratory owned by a music or technologic and trained to function akin to a regular human. From there, they can live with other humanoid synthesizers such as them or on their own (with help until they know what they’re doing, of course).
On this day, two companies banded together in agreement with something new: they wanted their Vocaloids who were still work-in-process (WIP) to interact with each other as a mean for socialization instead of going with total strangers. It would be a little less awkward that way, they believed. Because they were both located within Europe, they chose a fine hotel suite in Italy for their experiment. Next, they chose their subjects: one male Vocaloid from the English company, and a duo from Spain.-
