It wasn’t a new sight to him—no, not at all. Yet the sight of it now, with Zuko’s lifeless form writhing in agony, sent a shiver of discomfort crawling down his spine. This was no longer just a matter of personal contempt. This was something far darker: a soul lost forever to Agni’s eternal hell.
It was wrong—so utterly wrong—to witness a dead woman scream and wail, her his voice raw with desperation, begging for mercy. The very sound was revolting to his ears.

So how does all of this seem to go out the window so quickly? How is Sokka suddenly thrown into the spirit world and all of its politics? How is Sokka connected to all this spirit mumbo jumbo? And how come the only other person who can see them is not Aang, not Katara, not anyone spiritually attuned, but the enemy nation incarnate, Prince Zuko?

Zuko fought against the Gaang when they tried to save Zuko from the blizzard in the North Pole. Finding himself lost in the tundra, Zuko fights with every breath before stumbling into a valley, hosting a massive, gnarled tree of dead roots in the center.
One month after the failed siege, from the frozen wastelands of the northern tundra, a new Avatar walks free. One who is of the dark rather than the light, of the push rather than the pull.

Summary
Hakoda and Kya have their first child, a sickly boy with skin paler than that of even the Fire Nation, hair as white as the snow that surrounds them, and eyes the color of rubies; the color of the enemy. Hakoda names his son Tobirama.
At two, Tobirama get a little brother. At four, he gets a little sister. He loves them both fiercely. At six, he's more clever than kids twice his age. At eight, he begins to bend water like it's another limb. At 10, he sets the most successful traps. At 12, his mother died and he was powerless to stop it. At 16, he leaves with his father to fight a war (his second, not that he can remember. Not yet, anyway).
Not three months later, the Water Tribe fleet is ambushed, and Tobirama is injured. He gets three long burn scars on his face. To heal, his father takes him to Kyoshi Island.
When he wakes up, he remembers.
Or
Tobirama gets reincarnated as Sokka and Katara's older brother. Chaos ensues. Madara is not paid enough to keep chasing the icy asshat across the planet.

In the North Water tribe couple found a burnt boy while fishing and after a month of healing he woke up with foggy memories they adopted him and gave him the name Zeke
That was three years ago and on this night Yue is going to jump off the wall and end it all.

Zuko had always truly enjoyed few things, those things being the ocean and helping those who need his help. He was very passionate about anything that had to do with the ocean, charting currents, the animals that lived in the ocean, and the thing he kept as a very deep secret, the Ocean Spirit herself, La. Which, he supposes is why he agreed to La's deal so quickly, when she said she could offer him a way to stop Zhao from killing Tui and to stay alive, he accepted without a second thought.
(But he had no idea on how much this would change, not just for him).
