So, this is an AU One-shot story set during and after the events of the Legend of Korra Season 2 Finale.
This isn’t a deviation off the show, but rather the Unrated and Untold story version, so if you haven’t read it in a while, feel free to give it another once through if you want. (Not required reading, just horny fun)

Many centuries after the last apparition of an Avatar. The last one died while in the Avatar state, or so it is rumoured since nobody really knows what happened. Many believe Avatars were a myth to begin with. They cannot remember a time when Vaatu wasn't on the helm of the world and his Dark Spirits weren't roaming the Earth keeping people in check. Most would consider someone believing in the arrival of an Avatar a terrible optimist or dreamer. All of them would consider Tuen and Rannir crazy. Why? Because they decided to take matters in their own hands and create their own Avatar. Raava and her light have been banished from the world since Vaatu's victory and that only leaves them with the last option. One nobody would dare consider. Getting joined with Vaatu.

Summary
Sokka is a man of science, a man of reason. The spirits and their business can be left with his good friend the Avatar, the bridge between worlds. Or his sister, who plays with magic water with him. He’s perfectly happy without thinking about the spirit world, or spirits in general. He’s perfectly happy, (and has his hands full), with just this world alone. He doesn’t have the time to concern himself with spiritual matters while he’s running to the Northern Water Tribe whilst being chased by the downright evil Prince of the Fire Nation.
So how does all of this seem to go out the window so quickly? How is Sokka suddenly thrown into the spirit world and all of its politics? How is Sokka connected to all this spirit mumbo jumbo? And how come the only other person who can see them is not Aang, not Katara, not anyone spiritually attuned, but the enemy nation incarnate, Prince Zuko?
And above all, who is Gölet!?

Zuko fought against the Gaang when they tried to save Zuko from the blizzard in the North Pole. Finding himself lost in the tundra, Zuko fights with every breath before stumbling into a valley, hosting a massive, gnarled tree of dead roots in the center.
One month after the failed siege, from the frozen wastelands of the northern tundra, a new Avatar walks free. One who is of the dark rather than the light, of the push rather than the pull.

The human looked…thoughtful. “Yeah. I have.” He looked up to meet Vaatu’s gaze. “Oh. I’m Wan, by the way.”
