Former F1 driver Zhang Zhehan has retired from the world of racing after a serious injury. He's made his peace with the situation. He's moved on.
Enter Gong Jun, his old rival, asking Zhehan to come back and be his race engineer.

Zhehan laughs. It’s a strange sort of sound, not the way he usually laughs. They’ve been joking around between takes and warmups since the first few excruciating days at bootcamp, so Gong Jun’s had a lot of occasions to hear the way Zhehan really laughs, when the cameras aren’t rolling and he doesn’t have to sound handsome. He sounds in character, actually: he sounds like Zhou Zishu.
“2023,” Zhehan answers. He rubs his neck, smears his palm over his face. He’s gripping the apple so tightly that his thumb has broken the skin of it. “It really was the craziest dream.”

With some reluctance but with even more hope, they take the only chance that matters and move to the U.S. for an opportunity to live openly as partners and freely as they are. Their move prompts them to reconsider everything about what drives them: cooking, coaching, children, community. Challenges arise with each and every morning, but Gong Jun and Zhang Zhehan find what grounds them.
Mostly, without having to hide, they find themselves and one another.

“My heart stopped after our battle on the East Sea; my Bitterwind Poplar fought to restart it. I know what death feels like. It’s cold. It’s excruciating. You won’t get to feel the bliss you take from getting fucked when you die. Don’t succumb to death as easily as you succumb to me, Xiangyi.”
Li Lianhua stared at him for a beat, dazed. Then, he laughed. “Lao-Di, ah, don’t think that your jade pillar will save me.”

Some thought he was the hope of the martial arts world in the Central Plains, many wanted to defeat him and among them was Di Feisheng, the leader of the Jinyuan Alliance of the Valley of Demons, a people of human-looking magical creatures who practiced demonic cultivation. He even killed Shan Gudao, Li Xiangyi’s shixiong, and this led to the Battle of the East Sea where both were presumed dead.

Sequel to - Under Moonlight, We Change Our Futures Yet Again
For the first time that Di Feisheng can truly remember, he is absolutely free. He can go anywhere, choose any life he wants, and do whatever pleases him. And he’s made his choices. He’ll go to the Lotus Tower, and choose to live there on whatever terms Li Xiangyi will agree to, and do…well there are many things he wants to do to Li Xiangyi.
Or Di Feisheng decides to leave the everyday running of Jinyuan Alliance to Wuyan, struggles with being able to relax or even sleep following having been alert for danger for so long, and goes to visit Li Xiangyi, because he's pinning his whole future on getting to be there with him.
Exhausted and having not had time to process anything that's happened to him over the last couple of weeks - or possibly ever, Di Feisheng jumps to an awful conclusion regarding Li Xiangyi willingness to stay alive even though cured from a half heard conversation. “You really don’t know who I am?”Stede hurriedly straightened. How many times would he offend this man? He felt as if he were attempting to navigate a minefield in a blind gavotte.
“I don't know if you go around crashing into many fire hydrants, but no, I certainly do not know you, please forgive me the transgression.” He attempted to keep his tone even. “I’m not really from this town.” Stede’s gaze briefly flickered down. The stranger’s hand was no longer clenched.
“Neither am I.” It was said in a tone of resignation, almost as if - Oh, and wasn’t Stede Bonnet just projecting here - Almost as if the stranger didn’t quite know where he belonged.

Ed’s handshake is firm, his fingers warm and a bit calloused, the leather of his fingerless gloves smooth and soft. Stede’s eyes are drawn to the tattoos circling his arm as the handshake lingers maybe a bit too long.
