Summary
Jaune doesn’t know how long he’s been here, time is strange in this place even without magic clock fruit, but at some point he stumbles across a village of incredibly welcoming but alien creatures and starts living on the outskirts of their village. He can’t live with them, that would be intruding no matter how friendly they are, but he just can’t stand to be alone any longer.
Other than the Jabberwalker there aren’t any enemies in the Ever After, but Jaune doesn’t know that. So he stays on the outskirts trying to protect these strange, friendly, fragile creatures that took him in and gave him food.
It’s the least he can do.

I got emotional about Jaune's time with the Paper Pleasers and couldn't stop thinking about how they cared for that boy as much as they could, even though they're from such different worlds. Summary
He'd do anything for his friends. His family meant everything to him, and there was nothing he wouldn't sacrifice to keep them safe. To a fault. No distance was too far. And the universe was doing its damnest to test that theory at every turn.
The gang has pretty much settled down in Mistral. Canon has diverged (obviously), but what else can possibly go wrong? Other than Jaune getting his ass kicked at every turn, and his friends realizing he can't be left to his own devices without something going horribly wrong.
Or: If the actual writers won't conspire to injure Jaune at every turn, then I guess I'll do it myself.
