Garak wrinkled his nose for what felt like the thousandth time. It didn't help at all that everybody looked at his face every time he did so. Or that his ear itched and he was certainly worried not even surgery would help it regain its form. And his shoulders. Was wool supposed to be that rough? This certainly was akin torture.
Julian stood close to him, brushing a hand against his and he tried to provide some comfort. He knew this must be hard for Garak. Even just wearing clothes. He had to give extensive treatment to his skin after all. “Your eyes aren’t the same either. I’m sorry that keeping their natural color would have raised suspicions.”
"Oh, yes, I think I gathered that too. What about the hole in my ear? What kind of barbarians pierce their ears, Julian? And before you answer to that, yes, I believe your race is barbaric for doing that to their newborns. All of you in this ship are barbarians."

Summary
There are times were the systems of a ship acts in ways that are… unexplainable. Malfunctioning consols, glitching displays, or even engine failures that, upon investigation, have no reasonable explanation. It's during instances like these, where scientific explanations cannot be found, that superstitions start. It's said that every technician or engineer who's ever lived has at least once uttered the words "It's like the ship has a mind of its own." And the more such things happen, the more the words seem true.
But this is, of course, impossible.
Right?
Or...

Bashir finds out, and convinces Garak to help him take the winning photo – cue fake-relationship flirtation to get in the mood, a late-night tailor-shop rendezvous to pick the right outfits, then the staging of a seductive, intimate moment in a quiet hallway... only to wonder if the relationship they’re portraying in their picture is exactly what they want in reality. Or even what they already have.

Turns out, Julian is secretly trying to reconnect with his Muslim heritage for the month of Ramadan, so has been going without food or water during daylight hours, as religious tradition decrees. Well! In that case! If Garak can’t have lunch with his dear doctor, dawn and dusk meals will certainly do. And if he happens to linger afterwards... that’s probably not against the rules.
