Welcome to the Snark Side: A Shakarian Trip by Rosebud1773
Fandom: Mass Effect - All Media Types, Mass Effect Trilogy
22 Mar 2021
Summary
A retelling of the trilogy that fleshes out many of the in-between moments that were lost to the games. This take on an Earthborn Adept version of Commander Shepard contains slight alternate universe markers as well as original characters to help fill in some major plot holes in the original narrative. The characters have been fleshed out with in-depth thoughts and feelings in regards to their circumstances and environments. Shepard remains somewhat non-descript so as to allow readers to insert their own description of the female version for more enjoyment.

The Battle for Earth is over. Commander Shepard has done the impossible and shut down the entire Reaper fleet, ending the war and the cycle of death. In the aftermath, the crew of the Normandy are left with an inactive capital station floating in high Earth orbit, a mountain of human casualties, a fathomless amount of political clout, and a missing commanding officer. It's time to return to the Citadel.

Summary
The Catalyst was the one presenting the options. Even if it really wanted to give her the opportunity to break the cycle, it could only provide the solutions it could come up with. And this was the "great intelligence" that decided to solve the synthetic revolution problem by BECOMING the synthetic revolution problem. There was a chance Shepard could actually be cleverer than it.

Summary
Organic life was but a random set of mutations, air that had to be conducted to be most efficient. But the structure that kept it in place was showing clear signs of erosion; and through small cracks the wild wind escaped the established path.
Inspired by "A Study in Organics" by Rushofpanic and less so by "Limbo" and "Mass Effect: Synthesis", stories over at fanfiction.net by pirate kit and Jade Tatsu respectively.
Title taken from a song by Ultravox.

Summary
"Synthesis is the final evolution of all life." That's what the Catalyst claims, but it's really not all that it's cracked up to be. After being forced into this 'evolution', Jordan Sower ends up in Mass Effect with two purposes: Save the Galaxy and Synthesize all life. But, he doesn't take orders from the Catalyst! Follow Jordan Sower as he tries to change things for the better. Maybe...
Simple warnings ahead of time: There are multiple OCs/SIs and canon will change over time due to the butterfly effect.
This is/was posted ahead of time on FanFiction, and is still being made. I am the original author, I just decided to share it here, too. If there are mistakes, and much was written a while back and over time, so my style and way of writing has changed. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this.

For the Masskink, Inspired by Stranger than Fiction.
(...) What if, halfway through the game, Shepard figured out that she was just that--a character in a fictional story? (...) She, of course, says "Fuck all that nonsense" and tries her best to rewrite the game from the inside.
