    When Rinzler chases after Sam and Quorra from the lightcycle arena, his second baton isn't another lightcycle, it's a jet, and he's able to pursue Sam into the Outlands. The chase doesn't end well for anyone, and Sam and Rinzler find themselves swept out to the edge of the system. They must form an uneasy alliance to get back to the city, and neither of them are happy about it. But as they travel, Sam begins to unravel some of the tangled strings of code that make his unwanted companion, and discovers that there's more to this program than a killing machine.

    A.k.a., Sam and Rinzler are stranded in the wilderness and passions flare. Based on the movie lore, not much from the other Tron media.

      Series Notes:

      The references I use to time in these fics is from the program POV, so it's wacky compared to other fics. No comparison is drawn between how much time passes in the User world and on the Grid, because the math makes my brain hurt. For your sanity, the refs are as follows:

      Without factoring in actual math, assume:
      cycle = equivilent to a year (assuming 12 months in a year)
      centicycle = half a cycle (6 months)
      hex = a quarter cycle (3 months)
      millicycle = a month
      micro-hex = a week, more specifically a grouping of microcycles
      microcycle = a day
      nano-hex = an hour, more specifically a grouping of nanocycles
      nanocycle = a minute
      picocycle = a second
      Use your own judgement to decide how much time is passing for our side of the screen.

    It's going to be part of the new Tron: Ares movie, where Jared Leto plays a program soldier rezzed into the User world. I have very, very little interest in this premise.

    However, the song also works just fine for the 1982 movie.

    So, four hours after their music video came out, here's mine.

    The Grid is slowly collapsing without the Creator Kevin Flynn and Sam hasn't been able to make any discernable progress in understanding Quorra's complex code. In a last-ditch effort to save the Grid and analyze isomorphic algorithms, Sam returns but only to bring more programs into the User World. With the eager help of old friends and the watchful eye of old enemies, Sam finds himself and his team in the middle of one of the biggest technological breakthroughs Encom and the world has ever seen. At what cost will he be able to finish his father's work and keep all programs safe?
    (Mostly writing this because if Jared Leto is really in the next Tron movie, I will simply not accept it as canon LMAO.)
