    Aizawa accounted for Bakugou's rage, Shinsou's asshole tendencies, and Tokoyami's self-esteem.
    Aizawa did not account for the pure, unholy wrath, of three very petty teenagers who like to make a point.

    People say there are limits to how far a person can truly strive, but Izuku decides he’s just going to surpass those by learning from everything he can and using whatever advantages he can get.
    Izuku Midoriya always knew he would become a hero, he just had to figure out that he’d have to break through all the limits that stood in his way first.

    Izuku Midoriya was thought to be quirkless. That was up until his tenth birthday. Quirks and how they work have always fascinated him so come to his surprise he can use his friend's quirk after figuring out how it works. He just didn't know that his new quirk came with a dark secret and origin. Well, he didn't know for about five minutes until he was kidnapped and held captive for five years under his 'father's' thumb. The damage was already done as Izuku doesn't think he can be a hero anymore after being rescued, but Bakugou Katsuki never gave up on him and now, neither will Aizawa Shouta. All the people Izuku meets along the way will show him that little kid inside of him, begging to be saved, dreaming of becoming a hero, isn't bound by limits that don't exist because only he can decide what those are.

    But one success doesn't stop reality from returning, and the rest of their story is piling up in front of them, demanding to be faced. And what are heroes to do but to keep fighting?

    So they'll keep on moving, and they won't break now.

    "Thank you, Shouta."  It's a deliberate word choice, just like it was when they left the USJ and when they left the Midoriya apartment, as it is deliberate how Izuku reaches out, palm-up and fingers splayed, bloodstains and a single rose-gold shimmer laid bare.
    And Aizawa slips his own callouses and bloodstains against it, not-now rust flaking away between their warmth, and they squeeze thrice, just like in their death throes and promises and quiet grief. Like this, with this, things will be alright. Together, they'll make sure of it.

He already feels shitty enough that he has to deal with these seizures, and being told what a shit student he is isn’t really going to boost morale.

     

    Kaminari thinks the side effects from his quirk can't get any worse. So, obviously, they do.

    Aizawa’s eyes narrowed.

    They weren’t fighting (more than usual). He couldn’t find the tell-tale signs of someone hiding an injury. There was no student missing (he had already made three headcounts, triple checking none of them were clones, or robots, or a double in disguise). No one seemed to be holding back tears, not even Midoriya.

    They were the perfect picture of regular high school students, or as much as they could be while running a mock-rescue exercise. Working in teams as ordered, with the usual squabbles but nothing… out of the ordinary.

    It was too peaceful. Too perfect. The kind of class he’d dreamed to have ever since their first villain attack, that would apparently set the tone for the rest of 1-A’s year.

    So why did he feel like his students were up to something?
